He’d lain in bed, awake and holding her close to his heart, wondering what the morning would
bring.
The sun had risen hours ago and she still slept soundly.
Having her next to him was everything he could ever wish for. She fit perfectly in his arms. She
snuggled against him and his heart ached with love for her.
But had her love waned in the light of her rightful place?
A flash of light made him wince and close his eyes. When he reopened them, Theo stood next to
his bed. He studied Sabrina and then turned his Immortal gaze on Chase. “How are you?” His blue
eyes searched Chase’s intently.
Chase gave a tight smile. “I don’t know yet.”
Theo nodded sagely. “She will awaken soon. It is why I came. I felt I should be here when she
did, in case she had questions.”

your pacing.”
Chase chuckled softly. “Most likely.”
Sabrina moved and Chase jerked his hand away. His heart caught in his throat.
She opened her eyes and smiled at Theo and then turned to look at Chase.

like pillow and an arm wrapped around her waist. Chase and . . . Who did that voice belong to? It
sounded familiar.
She stretched and opened her eyes to see Theo standing by the bed. She smiled at the Immortal
then turned to look at Chase. His brows were knit together and the muscles in his jaw tightened and
released several times as he studied her face. Why is he so serious? “Hi.”
“Hi.” His jaw relaxed but his brow didn’t. His eyes searched hers intently.
“What’s wrong?” She cupped his scruffy cheek. “You look upset.” She chewed her lip. Had she
done something wrong?
“He is eager to talk about last night,” Theo said, sitting down on the bed behind her. “And a bit
nervous, I believe.”
“Nervous?”
