"Straight home." He tapped her steering wheel before straightening and stepping away from the car.

"Gotcha." She blew him a kiss. "See you when I see you."

She pushed the button and put her window up, then looked for Dag. Finding the young Slag member on his motorcycle by the gate, she drove her car forward off Slag property.

Once on the main road, she glanced in her rearview mirror. Tyr had already fallen asleep.

If someone would've asked her eighteen months ago if she'd be living with a man, deeply in love, and helping him raise his child, she would've laughed.

She'd only been going out on a few dates at the time. Those dates usually turned into sex before emotions could get involved. For one reason or another, none of the men in her life in the last six years or so ever panned out into something serious. The others lacked something she needed, or she wasn't willing to become someone's late-night scratch.

She looked ahead at the cross streets and kept her speed up, knowing Dag was behind her. Her stomach fluttered. Life was exciting and promising. She could barely contain her happiness.

She loved every single day with Peer, and it was only getting better now that they were together.

Together.

God, she loved being in a committed relationship. It was everything she imagined.

Peer was a simple man. All he had to do was snap his fingers, and she'd jumped into his bed and agreed to a committed relationship.

Of course, it took him a year to figure it all out, but she knew early on he was someone special.

She turned on her blinker. Going slowly down the street, she pulled into the driveway and shut off the engine. Before she could get her door open, Dag appeared outside the car.

Stepping out, she handed him the key to the front door. "Thanks, Dag."

"Not a problem." He walked toward the house.

She slung her bag over her shoulder, opened the back door, and unbuckled Tyr from his seat. He startled, putting his thumb in his mouth, and going back to sleep. She picked him up, cuddling him to her chest, and carried him into the house.

"Have a good night," whispered Dag. "I'll stay until you lock the door."

"Thank you," she mouthed, flipping the lock once he left.

Carrying Tyr into this bedroom, she leaned over his crib and pushed his blanket out of the way. One of the ladies at the clubhouse had already dressed him in his pajamas and changed his diaper right before they'd left. It made it easier to put him to bed without waking him.

She placed him on his back in the crib. He rolled to his stomach, sucking sleepily on his thumb. She covered him with the light blanket and stayed by the side of the crib, making sure he stayed asleep. Then, she walked into her and Peer's bedroom and turned on the monitor, making sure she could see him on the screen.

Since Peer was gone and she was solely responsible for Tyr, she undressed and put on one of Peer's T-shirts from the dresser. She'd wait until Peer was home so he could watch Tyr while she showered.

Remembering her bag she'd dropped by the front door, she walked out into the living room and retrieved her phone. Halfway down the hallway, her cell vibrated.

She looked at the screen and smiled. Peer.

Hurrying into the bedroom, so she could talk without waking Tyr, she answered, "Are you checking up on me?"

"Ja," he said.

"We just got home. Tyr's sleeping like an angel, and I'm ready for bed." She sat on the mattress. "What are you doing?"

"Taking a break to call you." Heavy traffic in the background made it hard to hear him. "Go to sleep. I'll be home in the morning."

"Okay." She yawned. "Love you."

"Love you, too."

The call disconnected. She plugged her phone into the charger and set it on the nightstand. Getting back up to use the bathroom, she washed her face free of makeup and then returned to bed.
