“I mean you can, but this seems so extravagant,” she said, her eyes still examining the room.

“Just enjoy the moment, Kansas. Trust me when I say there will be plenty more of these.”

“I don’t deserve you, Tyler,” she whispered as she pressed her lips to mine.

Chapter 28 - Sam

I’ll admit that the Berkshires were nice, but this place was literally a tropical paradise…our own little oasis to escape everyone and everything.

Usually, I hated surprises, but when Tyler said he was taking me somewhere to get away for a few days, on the inside, I was jumping for joy. I needed to get away.

The texts from James were becoming more and more frequent, as well as more and more scary. Not only did he still threaten me regularly, but he had taken up to sending me more pictures of myself to constantly remind me that he was watching.

Pretty much, any time I left the house, he was watching. I figured an FBI agent would have more work they could be doing, but maybe not.

I had no doubt that even though he might not be able to see me right now, he probably had some way of knowing where I was. Being FBI, I am sure it wasn’t difficult for him to the get the flight plan for the Wendell plane.

My vow to bring him down was still firmly rooted but getting together a solid plan was taking longer than I expected. It was like I either had to wait until the pieces all fell into place, or I would have to make them all fall into place.

For the next few days though, I would try to enjoy every second I had with that delicious man of mine…especially considering I had no idea what the outcome with James would bring.

Tyler’s words that this trip would be one of many special moments between us gave the smallest semblance of hope. That hope is something I would hold onto to keep me fighting until the very end.

Our first day there, we had decided to go out to the beach and take a dip in the ocean, but before we could even get changed, a storm came rolling in, and the rain came pouring down.

Even Mason, who usually loves playing in the water, didn’t want to venture outside in the wet, windy weather.

Instead, the three of us curled up on the couch, watching the storm outside our big windows. Even with the rain, there was nowhere that I would have rather been. The sound of the rain on the metal roof was so damn relaxing. Between that, Tyler playing with my hair, and holding my fluffy puppy close to me, before I knew it, I was out like a light.

When I finally opened my eyes, I saw that I was now in a bed instead of on the couch. Tyler must have carried me in sometime during the night. I couldn’t believe I had slept straight through. Even more so, I couldn’t believe I slept without the nightmares.

Swinging my legs off the bed, I stood up and stretched, feeling more refreshed than I had in weeks. I walked around the house looking for any sign of Tyler or Mason, but there was none. The house was quiet.

My eyes caught a glimpse of something out on the beach though…Mason running back and forth along the water’s edge and Tyler throwing a tennis ball for him to catch. Taking a brief moment to look at the man I called mine, I found it hard not to drool.

He wore a pair of swim trunks and nothing else. His tan, tattooed muscles glistened in the sunlight, and I had the sudden urge to go right out there on that beach and kiss every inch of him. Okay, that wasn’t a sudden urge…it happened practically every time I looked at him. Me keeping my hands to myself around the Adonis was no easy feat.

Before heading out to join the boys, I headed in to take a quick shower. Not that I was super dirty or anything, but I did need to shave my legs. My laziness had overcome me the past couple of weeks, and I hadn’t been keeping up on any of my personal landscaping. Thankfully, Tyler was sweet enough not to bring it up, but on this trip, I wanted to look as sexy as possible for him.

After a snappy five minutes in the shower and a quick brush of my hair and teeth, I headed down to the beach…donning a tiny bikini.

Actually, tiny might have been an understatement. This thing was a couple skimpy pieces of light blue fabric held together by string. Originally, I had bought the swimsuit for when Ty and I had our romantic night in a hotel room, but our personal hot tub didn’t really require swimming attire, so I hadn’t worn it yet. To be frank, if we didn’t have utter privacy on our stretch of beach, I would have worn the other, more modest, suit I packed.

I wasn’t a fan of showing off huge amounts of skin, but the look on Tyler’s face made it entirely worth it. His mouth gaped open as his arm that was about to toss the tennis ball fell to his waist, causing Mason to start jumping on his legs.

“Damn, woman,” he said as I approached.

“You like?” I said spinning around to give the full effect.

“I fucking love,” he said pulling me against his chest. “You may as well have just come out here naked.”

I shrugged. “I’ll leave a little to the imagination.”

“Kansas, first off, that leaves nothing to the imagination. And even if it did, I have the image of you naked permanently stuck in my mind, and I am going to make sure it never goes anywhere.”

After a short kiss, and a slight rub through his swim trunks, I took the tennis ball from his hands and threw it to Mason. He was starting to get a little bigger now, but he was still all puppy…and clumsy as ever as he kept tripping over his own feet while running through the sand.

“So, any ideas on what we should do today?” I asked, turning my attention back to Tyler.
