With his hand on her waist, they walked toward Tristan and Olivia’s new home.

“When the storm hits, I’ll be right by your side. Until then, you should just soak in the quiet.” He opened the door for her. “Have you talked to my mother and Christa about your concerns with the birth?”

“I have with all the girls. They asked about it earlier. They all offered to be part of it. They don’t want to push themselves into it but want to be there in case I need them.”

“Is that something you want?”

“Yes, but not all at once in the room. They understand and say they’ll respect my wishes.”

“I thought about your worries with the pain. You know how we pull comfort from each other when we are close?”

She nodded and sat on a stool, looking up at Blake. Running his fingers through her hair, he smiled lovingly down on her.

“Maybe I can help you with the birth pain too. When I touch you my worries lessen, and I’m hoping your pain will as well.”

“I always planned on having you close, but I hadn’t thought about that yet.”

“I won’t leave your side unless you ask me.” He chuckles quietly. “Father said that Mother had different phases throughout each birth. In the beginning she didn’t want him around, she wanted the comfort of her sisters and mother, by the end she asked him to be close and sometimes in between she changed her mind. Whatever you need, I’ll do. This is about you and your wellbeing, and I want you to know that I won’t be upset if you don’t want me around.”

“Thank you, but I don’t want you to force yourself to be with me. I read that some men can be overwhelmed and need breaks in between. If you need one just tell me. I won’t be upset.”

He cupped her face and kissed her forehead. “Thank you.”

Leaning his forehead to hers, they both soaked in this intimate moment. They only separated when they heard voices come closer. Holding a box in his hands, Tristan opened the door for Olivia and they both stepped in.

“I’m sorry we’re late,”Olivia quietly apologized.

“There is nothing to apologize for. I thought maybe you and I could get dinner ready while Tristan and Blake work.”

“Tristan brought me some samples for the kitchen to choose the interior.”

Niev excitedly jumped up. “How exciting! Are you letting her choose everything?”

“Of course. If I choose anything this house would look like a hot mess,” Tristan laughed.

Olivia giggled and Tristan sat down the box with samples on an old table in the midst of the room.

“I also thought I could restore this table. You just have to choose the color of stain for it later,” Tristan said excitedly.

“Something light.”

“How about you and I let the two of them go through the samples and we can start in the bathroom,” Blake suggested as he kissed Niev’s cheek. “Maybe we can finish ripping everything out today.”

While the men went to the back and started working, Niev and Olivia went through the samples and started talking about their upcoming mating ceremony.

“Have you and Tristan talked about your ceremony yet?”

She nodded shyly. “We did. We want something small and simple. I liked your ceremony but…”

“But you would like something less out there,” Niev finished Olivia’s sentence.

Olivia nodded insecurely. Though she had opened up a lot, she still didn’t feel comfortable within the pack. It wasn’t that the pack didn’t welcome her. It was the feeling that her past still lingered over her.

“Maybe you two can celebrate your commitment just with your close friends?”

“I like that.”

“Maybe if the weather is good, we can all gather here and celebrate on the clearing.”
