“How is Tristan’s house renovation going along?”
“We ripped everything out and Olivia has chosen the interior.”
“I was planning to help him on the weekend. I just can’t do it in the evenings.”
“I think he would very much appreciate that.”
Layla leaned closer with Aaron in her arms. “How is Olivia doing? When I see her, she doesn’t look as scared anymore, but is still quite shy.”
“She is adjusting well. Give her another few months and she’ll feel much more comfortable.”
“I’m hosting a brunch on Sunday. Do you think she is ready for something like that, or should I wait?”
“Maybe invite her for the next one, when Niev is back. I don’t think she has made many other friends and would feel more comfortable with her there.”
“I thought so. Maybe Lyliann and I can plan something before their commitment ceremony.”
“I think that would be nice. Hopefully that will help her with her anxiety.”
“I’ll get right on to it.”
The dinner flew by and not long after they all stood on the porch saying their goodbyes. Lyliann and Layla hugged Niev while Seth helped Blake carry Ann’s gifts to the truck.
“When you meet whoever picks you up, I would suggest letting them drive. I at first thought he was joking when Beta Fallon told me he would drive but I quickly learned why. The terrain is harsh, especially if it’s raining.”
“I’ll keep it in mind.”
“Father said you two should take your time. Don’t worry about rushing back. Only travel if Niev feels alright.”
Blake chuckled, turning his head back for a quick glance at Niev. “Don’t let her hear that.”
“There’s a reason I’m saying this to you and not her,” Seth laughed. “The Montanha Territory is gorgeous. If you get a chance, definitely take a run. Just make sure to have someone with you.” He loaded up the last of their things before laying his arm around Blake’s shoulders. “Be safe and enjoy yourself.”
“Thank you.”
As Blake turned, he saw Niev walking toward him. “Do we have everything?”
“I believe we do. If not, we can buy it on the drive there.”
Seth pulled her into a hug and gently squeezed her. “Have fun.”
“Thank you.”
Blake opened the passenger door and helped Niev climb inside before settling into the driver’s seat. Niev waved back at everyone as they drove off, her excitement only heightening as they drove out of the village.
“Do you know the way? Or should I pull out my phone?”
“I know the general direction. When we get closer, I’ll need help.”
She nodded and got comfortable, reclining the seat back. “Okay.”
“I didn’t plan any stops so if you need one just let me know.”
She giggled. “Let’s see if we both can survive our first road trip.”
He took her hand in his and kissed the back of her fingers. “This seems like a small obstacle compared to all the other things we’ve gone through.”
“It’s also our first vacation.”
