Hearing movement from inside, she quickly wiped her tears away and put on a smile. She probably didn’t want to make Niev feel bad and ruin her vacation in any way.

Wearing leggings and Blake’s shirt Niev stepped out, twisting her hair into a bun. “Good morning.”

“We didn’t mean to wake you, beautiful.”

“You didn’t. I had to pee again. I saw all the ingredients for pancakes and was thinking of making some for breakfast.”

Ann jumped up. “I’ll help.”

“So, what am I supposed to do?” Blake whined in a playful pout.

“Look pretty,” Niev giggled and quickly walked back into the house.

Both women disappearedinto the house, laughter following them. Blake couldn’t help but smile. He loved how well they got along even though they barely knew each other.

He listened to them as they chatted in the kitchen. Gazing over the village, he saw men shifting here and there and running into the mountains. They seemed to be heading down the same path and disappeared out of his view.

Niev’s sweet voice called for him. “Blake, can you grab the things Mayra gave us for Ann?”

“I’m coming.” He jumped up and joined them in the house.

After breakfast, they decided to spend the morning at the lake. They packed a picnic basket and followed Ann to her favorite spot. They settled down close to the Goddess’ Tree, watching the sun rise above the mountains.

Ann seemed to have made lots of friends who all slowly joined them throughout the morning. Though they were all very polite, Niev and Blake spent the morning answering curious questions from everyone. With Niev leaning against him, Blake had his hand around her waist, gently stroking her bump.

Their bond was calmly humming as they cherished the moment. Though Niev felt slightly uncomfortable at the beginning, she easily fell into conversation with Ann and her friends. She felt welcomed, much different from her first interactions with her own pack, and it made her feel secure.

“Have you chosen baby names yet?” Rachel, a tall redhead asked.

“Aruna and Emlyn.”

“Just girl names?”

“We already know the gender,” Niev explained. “We had our healer test my blood so we can prepare for everything.”

“I’ve heard that humans do that,” Terra chimed in. She was the oldest sitting with them. “May we ask how you came up with the names?”

“Niev chose Aruna to represent the love she has for the moon and Selene. Emlyn means brave and noble warrior. I chose it so our daughters may grow up just as strong as their mother.”

“I love them both,” Ann grinned. “If they’ll be anything like you and Niev they’ll keep you on your toes.”

“We are definitely enjoying the quiet time we have right now,” Niev giggled.

“When they are old enough, we would love to meet them,” Rachel requested shyly.

Ann started laughing. “If Niev and Blake won’t bring them to me, I’ll pick them up myself.”

They all joined in with the laughter and the women started making plans for the girls with all the things they would love to do with them. Closer to the late afternoon, Niev started to get nervous. About an hour before dinner, Blake moved to stand up.

“Shall we get ready for dinner, beautiful?”

“Yes, please.”

“I didn’t even feel the time pass.” Ann jumped up and pulled them both into a hug. “Shall we meet again for breakfast tomorrow morning?”

“I would love that,” Blake agreed as he squeezed Ann.

Holding Blake’s hand, Niev walked next to him back to their little vacation home. He could feel her anxiety rise as there were no distractions anymore and her mind was likely swirling around their dinner with Alpha Raymond.
