Layla handed her a sleeping Aaron. “You look like you could use some baby cuddles.”
Niev held Aaron to her chest, his back gently resting on her little bump. Looking down at him, it seemed as if all her worries vanished. Her mind cleared and all she could think about were her little girls.
The couch dipped next to her, and a strong arm wrapped around her shoulders. “Mhm… he got so big, and we’ve barely been gone.”
Leaning against Blake, she let his touch soothe her. “I know.”
He started talking to Mayra, Layla, and Lyliann, but Niev only had eyes and ears for Aaron. She only looked back up when he started to fuss.
Layla took him with a knowing smile. “Baby hugs always help. Just wait until you hold your girls. You’ll see.”
“Would you like to head home?” Blake asked, tucking a loose strand of hair behind her ear.
“Yes, please.”
After saying their goodbyes, Niev held onto Blake’s arm as they walked back home.
“I won’t be gone for long, and you can call me at any time.”
“It’ll feel weird without you around.”
“It will.”
“I’m sorry I’ve been so distant from you. I always seem to do that when I get overwhelmed.”
“You never have to apologize to me, not for something like that.”
“But we’re a team. We should talk rather than distance ourselves.”
“We are a team, but you also need time to sort out your own feelings. Not everything can be dealt with together. Sometimes we have to figure things out for ourselves before we’re ready for others to hear us out.”
She rested her head against his arm as they entered their little path. “We should tell Tristan and Olivia soon.”
“How about we invite them tonight for dinner? I saw their lights on last night.”
“Sounds good. I’ll talk to Christa tomorrow. I’m too tired today.”
Blake opened the door for her and nudged her to the sofa. Kneeling before her, he took off her shoes, his bond slowly but surely heating and filling with sweet lust. Gently but firmly, he started to massage her feet.
“How about I spoil you a little?”
She hummed and leaned her head back, letting her eyes flutter shut. His touch instantly calmed her. He picked up her leg and gently placed loving kisses on her ankle, his thumb kneading her sole.
“I love you with all my heart, sweet Niev.”
His kisses traveled to her knee. She parted her legs and ran her fingers through his long hair. His heat spread from the bond, through her soul and to her core.
“I love you too.”
“Even though it’s hard for you,” he chuckled. “I know I’m asking a lot from you, but I promise I’ll be on my knees every day thanking you.”
“Mhm… I do like that.”
His lips traveled up her inner thigh, his hands caressing her skin as they pushed her dress higher.
“I owe you my life. I’m only able to live because you are by my side. Until now I’ve simply been surviving. You’ve taught me what it’s like to truly live,” he hushed and pushed the dress over her bump.
“We saved each other.”
