Niev knocked at the door and right away Jason opened the door.
“Hi there.”
Jason pulled her into a tight hug only to loosen it right away. “Sorry, forgot about the bump and all.”
“Freaks you out, huh?”
“You have two human bodies inside of you. You don’t think that’s just a little creepy?”
Niev laughed and stepped inside before giving the two men a stern look. “I hope you two can behave because I can’t do any more drama today.”
“Of course,” Blake instantly promised.
Jason’s brow furrowed. “What happened?”
“I’ll tell you as soon as you feed me.”
Jason chuckled and pushed her to the couch. “Let’s get comfortable then.”
Niev sat between Blake and Jason, both of them seemingly having a claim on her, though Jason’s was more on the brotherly side.
“I went to talk to my parents,” she said between bites of her pizza. “They didn’t even let me into the house.”
“Why would you wanna go back there?”
“I was hoping to at least mend the way we left off. I wanted to try to ease my mind.”
“What did they say?”
“Mom didn’t say anything. Dad pushed her away before he announced my adoption was a mistake.”
“Religious freaks.”
“Then Blake made us the gossip of town when he suggested we should go on a stroll through the farmers market.”
“Going out with a bang, huh?”
“It was quite interesting. I met the man who took her innocence.”
“Oh what gossip that will be,” Jason laughed. “I’m sure he was quite jealous.”
“Both of them actually handled it with lots of grace,” Niev praised.
“And here I was hoping to hear of a fight over the long-lost maiden.”
“Sorry to disappoint,” Blake joked. “Next time I’ll remember to punch the guy.”
From there on, the ice between them was broken, only freezing up again when Niev and Blake revealed that they would move away. Jason was quite disappointed but made her promise he would see the girls at some point and also made her promise to keep in touch and send lots of photos. They stayed and watched movies until late at night, with Niev falling asleep halfway through the second Princess Diaries film.
She only woke up when Blake gently lifted her into his arms and rolled her into his chest. “Let’s get you home, beautiful.”
“Don’t leave yet.” She heard Jason’s footsteps quickly walk to the back of the apartment.
Blake waited, lovingly placing a kiss to her forehead. “Tomorrow you can relax and watch your handyman do all the work.”
“You know I can walk to the car, right?” she mumbled, still half asleep.
Another kiss. “I know.”
