“I don’t think there is a more beautiful place to raise our girls.”

Blake had his eyes closed, head resting on the pillow beneath him. His body vibrated under her hands as she massaged his skin and muscles. Her fingers tickled and tingled as his body slowly relaxed, and he dozed off. He looked like a giant, cuddly bear. She caressed him for a little while longer before the exhaustion overcame her and she laid down next to him.

Gratitude, Love, and Adoration

While Niev was cooking breakfast the next morning, Blake called Ann. With his free arm wrapped around her waist, he stood next to her and watched as she flipped the pancakes.

“Good morning, Ann.”

Niev couldn’t hear her answer, but it made Blake chuckle.

“Mother has let us know you would like us to visit. I was hoping we could plan something for the next few weeks. I don’t want to travel too late into Niev’s pregnancy.”

Niev pulled out the plates and placed them on the counter next to the stove.

“We don’t mind either. If you can’t arrange a guest house, we’ll be just as happy staying at your home.”

Blake kissed her head and grabbed his plate with his free hand while Niev grabbed hers and the mugs.

“Maybe a week or two depending on how Niev is feeling.”

She loved how considerate Blake was. So far, her pregnancy had been easy, apart from the fatigue.

“Sounds good. Just call me whenever you know, but don’t worry about it too much.”

He hung up the phone and started stuffing the first pancake into his mouth.

In between bites, he explained, “She says we can come visit whenever we like. She is trying to see if she can get us a guest house, but I told her we don’t mind staying with her.”

“Gives me more time to get to know her.”

“When she calls back about the guest house, we can start planning.”

“Have you traveled that far before?”

He shook his head. “Not by car. I used to run far with my wolf but never really traveled like that.”

“I’m excited.”

“Me too.” He got up and put the dirty dishes in the sink before coming back and kissing her forehead. “Do you need anything before I head out?”

She shook her head and wrapped her arms round him. “Have a good day. Don’t work too much.”

She watched as he walked out the door and slowly got ready to leave herself. She’d spent her days with Christa, who was stuffing her brain with more information by the day. Niev started keeping a book of notes filled with things she deemed important and always carried it with her, adding to it with each lesson. Throughout the last week Christa had sent Niev out on missions to check on the elderly and change bandages on some wounded pack members.

Christa had limited their time together to the mornings, not wanting to strain Niev too much. She wasn’t the only one. Everywhere she went Niev was met with gentle reminders to rest herself. At the beginning she’d hated it, but the further into her pregnancy she was the more she appreciated it. The girls were growing fast and were pulling at her energy reserves.

At Christa’s cabin, Niev was greeted with a tender smile. “How are you feeling today?”

“I’m good and you?”

“Very well, as always.”

“Blake and I are planning to visit his sister soon, so I’ll be gone for a week or two. We don’t have a date set yet but thought you might want to know.”

“How very exciting! I’ll be checking on the girls before you leave for your travels.”

“Thank you.”
