“I’m sure you’ll be doing all the driving so I can sleep through the whole thing.” She giggled and leaned down to kiss his head.

“I’ll call and arrange everything.”

After dinner, they stopped by the truck to pick up their bags. Of course, Blake insisted on carrying them for her and she’d learned not to protest. Because of the bond, she knew he thought she was more than capable but loved taking care of her. He took pride in her wellbeing and providing her with everything she needed.

“Have you and Ann been close?”

“Maybe as children but never as adults. Even when I was younger, Seth and I were inseparable while my sisters were doing their thing.”

“I’m glad Aruna and Emlyn have each other when they grow up. I always wanted a sibling.”

“Would you want more after they arrive?”

She’d thought about it a lot. She’d always wanted a big family but for the sake of keeping Blake sane, she’d decided two would be enough. “I always wanted more than one kid so after the girls arrive, I’m happy.”

He opened the door for her. “But you wanted more?”

She nodded. There was no need to lie. Honesty would always be the best way. “I did but I don’t think we should test our luck even more. They’ll grow up with a big family even without us having more kids.”

He followed her to the bedroom where she undressed. “I’m sorry that I’m burdening you.”

She could feel his heavy heart as guilt spread through his soul. Sitting on the edge of the bed, his puppy eyes looked up at her as if he was pleading with her.

“You had to change so much for me and now you’re holding back even more. You didn’t ask for any of this.”

She straddled his lap, silencing him with a finger on his lips. “I never wanted it because I didn’t know it was an option. I love all of this. It’s so much more than I could ever ask for. You didn’t just give me a family, you gave me a whole pack. Look around, Blake. You built me a house. You provide for me and shower me with all your love. You treat me like a queen. What more could I ask for?”

Leaning his forehead against hers, he drowned himself in their bond. He could feel how much she loved him, how much she appreciated all he was doing for her. The bond didn’t hide anything from him.

“I can feel that you’re telling the truth, but I still can’t believe how lucky I am to have you. Somehow, I’m waiting for something bad to happen.”

“Even if it does, we fight it. We’ll stand side by side and win each and every battle.”

“My warrior.”

He tilted his head and pressed his lips against hers. She melted into his arms around her waist. She could feel that he was burning up from the inside, not with lust but with the need to be close to her. He needed her skin on his. Not for pleasure, but for reassurance. She pushed her hands underneath his shirt, stroking and caressing him with her fingertips. A few moments later she stood up, breaking off the kiss.

“Lay down on your stomach and take your shirt off.”

Curious, he did as told. Climbing on the bed, she sat on his sexy ass, making herself comfortable. She placed her palms between his shoulder blades to each side of his spine and she started massaging him.

“Am I too heavy?”

“Never,” he hummed, his body vibrating beneath her.

She couldn’t help but laugh. “Just wait till I can’t see my own feet anymore. We might crush you beneath our weight.”

His chest rumbled. “You can crush me as much as you like.”

Bending down, she started to kiss his shoulders. Their bond was electric, little sparks of pleasure jumping from one to the other. Though there was still desire within them both, this was the kind of pleasure they got from just being in each other’s company. Sometimes, she forgot that they hadn’t been together for long. Even before the bond she felt as if she’d known him for ages.

“I forget how little time we’ve spent together. It feels like we’ve known each other for years,” she hushed against his neck before kissing him again.

“Being with you feels effortless.”

“It does, especially with the bond.”

“I never thought I would feel this content with my life.”
