Page 28 of Claiming Her Alpha

Once everyone was presentable, her father led them over to Alpha Finlay and Luna Ferra’s house. The dinner was very pleasurable, though Kendra could see that the Silverliner Wolves were a very strict and tight-knit community. They were very old fashioned, their traditions deeply rooted.

Kendra spent the next day with Luke, who showed her some of the easier hiking trails. He was a quiet man and was likely sent along to keep an eye on her. Her father and Kent were busy building relationships with Alpha Finlay and Beta Blake.

They stopped for a break, finding a spot to sit down near a cliff overlooking the surrounding area. Luke sat across from her, studying her closely. “A wolf does not like to be kept hidden or restrained. They are free spirits, given to us by Isis. We must cherish their wild nature.”

Kendra was baffled. She opened her mouth to explain, but fumbled on her words. Did she want to explain? Or did she want to deny her wolf’s existence entirely? Before she could decide, Luke smiled and shook his head, silencing her with his hand.

“I do not wish to know your reasons, nor will I reveal what I believe I have discovered. The path the Goddess has chosen for you is not mine to judge nor mine to speak about.”

She needed a moment to wrap her head around this surreal–and very intimate–situation. “Th-thank you,” she stuttered, feeling like a child caught with her hand in the cookie jar.

That evening was spent around a small campfire, with some of the pack joining them out of curiosity. Exhausted by the hikes and unable to hide her frustration over the happy couples around her any longer, Kendra went to bed early.

As always, she closed her eyes and imagined Ryker’s arms around her. She tried to picture him with her and even though she had tried not to go there, she pushed her hand between her thighs, imagining it was his. Fingertips pressed against her clit, she soaked in the memory of him between her legs. Massaging herself, she circled her hips into her touch, remembering how amazing his tongue had felt pressed against her sensitive bundle of nerves.

She pressed her lips together, suppressing a moan. She immersed herself into the sparks that spread through her from her touch and worked herself to her climax. It wasn’t nearly as satisfying as when she’d been with Ryker, but it at least gave her some kind of relief. Her heart raced within her chest, but it felt as if the lonely void in her soul had only opened up more. Though her body was pleased her soul and mind weren’t happy.

She awoke before the sun the next morning. She wasn’t sure why, but she had a feeling she should check on Kent and make sure he hadn’t done anything stupid.

Sure enough, the idiot had taken a woman to bed. The young blonde was laying in his arms, head on his naked chest. Kendra stormed over to the bed and yanked the blanket off the couple.

The girl’s eyes fluttered open. At first, she was confused, but then shame flushed her cheeks. She, like Kent, was naked. Kendra sighed and retrieved her clothes from the floor.

“You should leave before anyone sees you.”

“Please…” she whispered.

“I won’t tell anyone, but you should keep it to yourself. I don’t think your pack will like this.”

The girl nodded, her face fire-engine red. She quickly dressed and tiptoed out of the room.

Kent was still deep asleep, not bothered in the slightest by anything that was happening around him. Frustrated with the man-whore she had to call her brother, she picked up a pillow and hit him right in the face.

“How could you?”

He was awake within an instant. “Hey! What the fuck?”

“I could ask you the same.” She slammed the pillow down again. “You had one job. One fucking job. Only one! To keep your dick in your pants and you failed yet again.”

“She came after me!”

“Do I look like I give a shit? You should’ve declined her knowing how strict her pack is.”

“Oh c’mon Kendra… maybe you should have a little more fun.”

“Maybe you should grow up and be the alpha your pack needs.”

“Enough!”

They both turned their attention to the door where their father now stood. Knowing he wouldn’t say or do anything about Kent’s behaviour, Kendra stormed out of the room. She was mad at the world and pissed with how messed up all of this was. She quickly got dressed and left the cabin. Needing space from both the men, she walked down the path that Luke had shown her the day before. Sitting on the ledge of a cliff, she watched the sun rise in the east.

Her mind was made up: she would take over the pack. Her wolf hummed in agreement in the back of her mind. It was her birthright and clearly, she was more up to the task than her brother. Now she not only had to figure out how to be a good alpha, but to befriend her wolf.

She sighed, sadness pouring through her as she thought about Ryker and how he would be able to help her. He would’ve been able to teach her, train her, and make her a good leader.

Chapter Nine

Eyes closed, Ryker let the hot water pour over his aching body. He’d spent all day training with his men, and his hot, sweaty skin showed it. As always in those quiet moments, his thoughts immediately returned to Kendra.
