Isaiah leaned next to her and crossed his arms over his chest. “How long you in for?”
“Life.”
His chest vibrated while Asher grinned down at her. “I’m sure your inmates are thrilled.”
“So much so they’re drooling all over themselves,” she teased, making Asher’s grin fade—slightly.
Much to her dismay, they shared an SUV with Axel and Renly, leaving her squished between the twins while she sipped at her milkshake.
“Axel?” she called, breaking the silence.
“Yes, Luna.”
“Who is your mate?”
“Larissa.”
What a shame, she thought to herself. “And you, Renly?”
“No mate yet, Luna.”
“Haven’t gone out much, huh?”
“I’ve planned on visiting family next summer.”
She snorted. “Nice way of saying mate hunt.”
“I would prefer it if I didn’t have to hunt her, but I’ve heard a few pack traditions lean that way.”
“I hear mating parties are a thing. Young wolves meeting up, drinking and hopefully finding their mates.”
“Let me know if you hear about one. Maybe I can squeeze it in.”
“You didn’t hear that from me though. We don’t want the luna at fault for sending away all the young blood.”
Though she tried to keep the conversation light, her anxiety spiked. Her blood rushed through her veins and her muscles itched to move to release some tension.
Asher’s mind tenderly leaned against hers, asking for permission to speak to her. She pushed him away, but he stroked her outer thigh and gave her those big green puppy dog eyes.
‘What?’ she snapped.
He was so surprised that he flinched. While Asher searched for his scattered words, Isaiah’s amused mind mixed with hers. She’d unknowingly opened her mind to both of them.
‘It’s because we’re so close. Ash’s mind is always linked to mine, and at this point it’s not even conscious anymore.’
‘Not weird at all.’
‘It’ll become natural soon enough.’
‘As soon as we’ve crossed the border, you can run the last bit if you like,’ Asher said, having overcome his shock.
‘Alone?’
‘Yes,’ Isaiah promised.
‘Does Axel know you fucked his mate?’
‘He does. I believe Larissa told him about my past with her before he agreed to join us.’
