She begrudgingly did as she was told—if for no other reason than to get the taste out of her mouth. She took another dampened paper towel from Isaiah.

“We can wait here as long as you need,” Asher whispered in a soothing tone.

“Waiting won’t make it easier.”

Isaiah used a finger under her chin to turn her gaze to him. “You are luna. Listen to what your friends have told you. You hold the power here. Everyone else here is beneath you.”

Of course, she knew what a luna was. But somehow hearing it come out of Isaiah’s mouth solidified it in her mind. She was above Ely now. The thought gave her a newfound sense of strength.

“Are you ready?” he asked, dropping his hand.

“Yes.”

“Good.”

The two helped her to her feet and she followed Isaiah out of the bathroom with Asher close on her heels.

“Here.”

She looked down to see Asher offering her a pack of peppermint gum—then scolded her heart for skipping a beat. She gratefully took one, then leaned against the SUV with her hands in her pockets as the twins greeted their warriors one by one. When her eyes landed on him again, she felt herself relax. It wasn’t Ely—it was his brother Renly. From behind they’d looked identical, but Renly’s eyes were much lighter.

One warrior separated from the pack and approached her. He was tall but with a lithe frame compared to most of the warriors. The long mop of hair on his head flowed with the breeze, letting her see the sides were shaved down.

He held out a hand as he introduced himself. “It’s nice to finally meet you, Luna Velora. I’m Axel, your first warrior.”

She took his hand. “I’ve heard so much about you.”

“Only good things I hope.” He nudged his head towards the SUV closest to the group. “I was told you prefer daggers, so I thought I’d bring some choices for you.”

Velora already liked him—even if she didn’t want to.

In the trunk of the SUV he opened a few cases, revealing an assortment of daggers along with a choice of Glocks. “Take your pick.”

She reached for a dagger making sure it fit well into her hand before searching the bag next to her for some sort of strap or belt. She located a shoulder holster and sheath for the blade, laying everything before her and stripping her shirt. Before the fabric could clear her head, two shadows appeared behind her.

“You know, when I shift people will see far more than just my sports bra, right?” she said without turning around.

Out of the corner of her eye she saw Axel retreat and Asher taking his place next to her.

“Not if they want to keep their eyesight, they fucking won’t,” Asher growled, his eyes darkening with his wolf’s possessiveness.

She laughed, tightening the leather holster around her shoulder. “I didn’t know ripping one’s own warriors apart is a leadership skill an alpha should acquire.”

Isaiah was so close behind her that she could feel his breath on her shoulders. “We’d rather keep that sight just for us,” he husked as he straightened the shoulder strap with a single finger.

“Should I start running around and mutilating the women who’ve seen you naked? I’m sure half the pack has seen your dicks.”

Asher leaned closer, his eyes greedily running over her bare skin. “I think that would be a step in the right direction.”

She added her dagger to the holster then replaced her shirt. “Maybe wipe the drool off your chin before you turn back to your buddies. Might make you seem a little desperate.”

He growled which made Isaiah laugh. “Ah, there she is.”

She turned and sat in the open trunk of the SUV, her feet dangling over the ground. “Where are we stopping for food?”

“Wherever our luna wants to eat.”

“I’m feeling one last chocolate shake and fries before my sentence begins.”
