The woman laughed. “Yeah, my daughter doesn’t do shopping either. I think she thinks it’s beneath her or something.” She smiled up at me. “I’m Anais by the way. Most people call me Ana.”

“Fen—” I said, stopping myself before I gave my full name. Most people called me Fen anyway, not that Fenris was particularly awkward, it was just easy to shorten.

“Hello, Fen,” she said extending a beautiful, well-sculpted arm and slender, long-fingered hand.

I brushed off my thick, calloused hands on my jeans, probably only making them dirtier, then shook her hand. Her touch was warm and sent a thrill through me, and my wolf let out a sigh of contentment as if someone were petting it.

Yeah, this was definitely new and strange.

“Well, I love to shop, and I’d love to help you find a dress for your daughter. Do you know her size or measurements?”

I made something up.

We began searching through the racks and shelves as Ana went on about dress styles and all sorts of things I didn’t care about, but still, I hung on her every word. I’d become a lost puppy, following around the first person who’d shown me any affection. This was extremely strange for me, but I didn’t mind at all. I just wanted to be near this woman: Anais.

And so did my wolf.

I ended up buying three dresses, because… I couldn’t say no to this woman, and it meant I got to spend more time with her. She bought six outfits that I was certain would be stunning on her, and several sedate and conservative dresses for her daughter.

“Thank you for helping me,” I said as we exited the store. But I didn’t want to leave her side. “Would you be up for coffee or a meal?”

“Now?” Ana asked, a bit stunned. “It’s the middle of the afternoon?”

Right, not everyone was ravenous all the time like I was.

“Just coffee then?”

She smiled at me. “Ah, look Fen, you seem like a nice guy, and you’re certainly nice on the eyes, but I’m sort of… off men right now. I hope that’s okay?”

“Oh, of course,” I said, nodding, my heart aching just a little at those words.

Some part of me wanted to say:no worries, I could get a sex change if you’re into women, but that seemed like it was goingwaytoo far. And I didn’t think that’s what she was saying.

“Well,” I said. “It was definitely my pleasure to meet you and I do hope we meet again.”

She stood there for a long moment, thinking about something before saying, “Ah… my new job is at this club called Elysium. It’s at the top of—”

“I know the place,” I said with a grin. It made sense that she’d be working at the main daemon bar in town. I didn’t visit the place often, but I’d certainly be going a lot more now. “I might swing by and see you there.”

She blushed and grinned and took a deep breath, which made that amazing chest rise prominently.

Holy-fucking-gods! She was too much!

“Maybe I’ll see you there,” she said. Then she hailed a cab. “Later Fen,” she said with that stunning smile and was gone, slipping into the car.

I stood there, a bit dumbfounded, for a long moment. I’d never met a woman like Ana before and knew with certainty that I never would again. I had to be with her, even if only because my wolf loved her! She had tamed the ravenous beast within me, and I needed to know more about this wonderous woman.

But first I needed a release from the aching pain of my raging cock.

Then food.

Then I’d finish work, clean up, and head to Elysium. I didn’t know when Ana might be working next, but I’d be there every night from now on until I saw her again.

ANAIS

That had been a close one.

If I’d spent a second longer with Fen — and that gorgeous, tall, blond, construction worker vibe he had going on — I wouldn’t have been able to resist his offer for coffee.
