VIOLET

Chapter Ten

“Okay, can we get back to the make-out sesh from last night?” Scarlet asks as I pull my hair into a ponytail.

“What about it? I already told you everything. Twice.”

“The real question is, what now? Have you figured it out yet?” Monique questions, putting on some lipstick while looking into her camera on the phone.

“I want to be with him. That’s not a question.”

“Right, but after realizing he may be a little more experienced than you…” Monique trails off.

“Look, I know he’s slept around. I guess I just didn’t expect to hear those things. Like, he wants to do those things to me! And don’t get me wrong, I was turned on, but also I just started feeling like maybe I’m not in his league.”

“Honey, you are out of his league,” Scarlet chimes in. “Do not sell yourself short.”

I give her a smile. “That’s not what I meant. I mean, in his sexual league.” I let out a laugh. “He’s probably done it all, and here I am.”

“Our little sweet virgin,” Monique teases.

“Shut up.”

“I’m kidding.”

“Clearly I’m gonna need things to go slow, and he’s already ready to spread me open and devour me before fucking me in three different positions or something. He probably doesn’t want to teach me shit about sex.”

“He might be up for it,” Scarlet says.

“I don’t know. Now I feel weird, because I don’t necessarily want to just spring that on him, but he’ll need to know not to expect me to just fuck him at some party or suck his dick in his car or something. I know I talk with a lot of bravado, but that’s just who I am.”

“All bark and no bite?” Monique questions with a grin.

“I have some bite.”

We laugh and finish getting ready, but I can’t stop thinking about what it means to be the virgin who’s into the manwhore. It’s a typical cliché trope, but sometimes it just happens to be the truth.

Ronan came to me earlier, questioning me about things with Dex. Apparently, they’ve already had a conversation about me, but because Ronan’s one of my closest friends, he’s aware of my virgin status and already figured I was starting to get nervous because Dex is far from innocent. He assured me Dex doesn’t know, and maybe if he did, he wouldn’t have been so straight-foward, but the thing is, I liked it.

“You should talk to him. He seemed a little down this morning, and then disappeared for hours,” Scarlet says as we leave the room.

I take a deep breath. “Yeah, I will. I just don’t want to draw any attention to us.”

“Should I keep Zo occupied?” Monique asks.

“Yeah, we can ask him and Ronan to explore with us tonight. Jay and Shawn found that hidden room, so maybe we can go there,” Scarlet says.

Monique grimaces. “I’ll allow myself to get scared again for you.”

I laugh. “Thanks. I love you guys.”

When we get into the dining hall, I immediately notice Dex’s absence. Everyone else is seated and already eating and talking, so me and the girls grab our food and find a table.

Before I take my first bite, Dex strolls in, wearing an old football shirt with the sleeves cut off, showing off his biceps. I swallow and avert my eyes before I’m caught salivating.

He doesn’t look at me once, and after getting his food, he sits with Ronan and Renzo, his back to me.

“Think he’s mad at me?”
