The girls both turn and look in his direction. He’s laughing loudly at something someone said.

“Nah. I think he’s probably just confused and giving you some space. You don’t want him all down your throat in front of everyone anyway,” Monique says.

“Down her throat?” Scarlet says, cracking up. “We just talked about our sweet baby not doing those types of things.”

I hit her arm, playfully rolling my eyes. “You guys are awful.”

The rest of the afternoon drags on. It’s not that there’s nothing to do or that I’m bored, because we actually have plenty to do. Not only can we just go through all these creepy ass rooms, we also have movies, thanks to someone’s portable projector, and games, thanks to the people who brought different card games. But all I can think about is being alone with Dex so we can talk, and I’ve hardly seen him at all today.

Right after dinner, Jayden says he’s gonna go back to the room they found and look around some more. I’m convinced this place has several “hidden” rooms just to give us something to get excited about, and honestly, it works. Most of the group decides to go with him, including my brother and his boyfriend. Trevor and Bryant say they’re gonna go back to the third floor and look around up there. Scarlet and Monique assure me they’ll text me when Renzo decides to head back up, so I’ll know not to be caught with Dex. Not that I plan on doing anything like that.

Before Dex decides on where he’s gonna go, I come up behind him and nudge his arm with mine. “Wanna stay behind with me? We should talk.”

His face deflates. “Uh-oh.”
