I leaned into her hand. “I love you too.” I was sure she was right. She was always right.

Emily

December 2nd, 2021

Ithrew the marker down and looked over what I had done. Lines covering my arms, my legs, my stomach, my hands.

I wanted to cut myself. I wanted to release the pressure in my brain, but I couldn’t do it. I didn’t want to do it again, I wanted to break that habit, so a marker was the next best thing.

I picked up my cup with a weak and shaking grip, and gulped down the water before dropping the cup to the ground among all the other water bottles already down there.

I laid back down just as Sirius meowed at me.

“Please go away,” I whispered, so exhausted, I was finding it hard to inhale.

“Mrow.”

I closed my eyes. What day was it? Where was Grey or Ash? Shouldn’t they havebeen here by now?

I had texted them, I was sure of it. Where were they? Were they angry at me? Did they hate me?

I’m sorry, I thought towards them. Please forgive me. Come back. Please, come back.

They had to come back at some point, right?

Sirius jumped up onto the couch and started purring as she shoved herself under my arm, right against my chest, and nuzzled down. It was her favorite spot. I couldn’t remember when I had gotten her, but I prayed she would neverleave.

Ash

Why haven’t you called him?”

Jeremy frowned deeply. “Because she’s sick, Ash, she’s not in trouble. She’s sick. She texted him three days ago telling him that she was sick. It’s a bad flu.”

I snarled, clearing his desk of everything and slamming my hands down on the table. “I am telling you rightfuckingnow that she is not sick. Something is wrong!”

Jeremy pressed his lips into a thin line. “That was Greyson’s stuff,” he stated coldly. “Pretty rude of you.”

My eyes widened, my heart slamming against my ribs. Emily may have believed I didn’t have it in me to kill someone, but I knew I did, because I was about to do it. I was ready to kill this man.

“If you’re so concerned about her, whyhaven’t you called him?”

“I have,” I seethed. “He’s saying the same things you are. Listen to me, something iswrong. I can feel it in my bones. What happened on Monday? Tell me, because she wasn’t acting sick when we saw her. She was fine.”

Jeremy thought back, clearly exasperated, but I didn’t care. I needed to know. My best friend wasn’t answering her fucking phone, and I needed to know why.

He finally sighed. “Diamond’s secretary came in and told her that her father was in an accident. She left, that was it.”

I froze, Syn straightening beside me, my lips parting in absolute horror.

Jeremy took me in, his brows furrowing. “What? Greyson took care of Diamond and Eris, we know it wasn’t them.”

I couldn’t feel my hands. I couldn’t feel anything. A roaring sounded in my ears, and everything buzzed around me.
