The sound of a guitar drifted under the bedroom door, pulling my eyes over.
My brows furrowed as I slid my hands into my pockets andneared the door, listening carefully.
Seconds passed before Emily’s beautiful voice drifted through, singing some country love song that seeped into my soul.
Fuck, I loved it when she sang. I couldn’t get enough of it.
“Mrow.”
I looked down, finding Sirius standing by my feet, shifting her golden eyes to the door. “Mrow,” she called again.
I smiled. “Yeah, beautiful, I know.”
When the song ended, I heard Ash gushing, and I could only imagine the blush spreading across Emily’s cheeks. I wondered why she had sung it for them. Had Ash pressured her or had the music just come to her?
Sometimes the music just drifted through her. She would start humming or singing at seemingly random times because she just couldn’t help it. I could listen to her sing until my dying breath. It brought a peace to me I didn’t wholly understand. Mainly because in the last week, her songs had shifted from sad to something happy. It gave me hope.
Finally, the bedroom door opened, and I felt my heart skip as I straightened, adjusting my own tie only for Ash and Syn to slide through the crack, shutting it behind them before I could look.
I frowned impatiently.
Ash put her hands on her hips, her floor length black dress moving slightly as she jutted her hip to one side. “Excuse me, that look is not a good one. Do I really have to ask or will you buck up and be a gentleman?”
I rolled my eyes and forced myself to take her in. She had paired her black dress with a pair of Emily’s converse. She had obsidian bracelets on either wrist and an obsidian choker, her tattoos shimmering in some sort of glitter body spray, her hair slightly curled, a few strands pinned back intricately.
Syn had her blonde hair piled high in a bun on the top of her head, ringlets falling down on either side of her face to frame it. Her dress was an emerald green with a halter top and a smalldiamond cutout on her back revealing the fact that she had a spine tattoo. It was floor length as well and complimented her perfectly.
Ash rose a brow. “Well?”
“You both look beautiful.”
Ash dropped her arms and rolled her eyes. “You’re so terrible at this. God,” she muttered on her way back to the door.
Syn smiled. “She means thank you. Thank you from both of us, and you look very handsome tonight too.”
I straightened my tie and ran a hand through my hair as Ash opened the door. I had never been nervous. Ever, but shit, I hoped I looked good enough to stand beside her. “Ready?”
No response.
“Stop being so flustery, come on,” she pushed and stepped back. Ash turned to me, stepping to the side as she smiled brightly. “Let me introduce to you, Emilia Belle.”
My heart thudded in my chest as stared unblinkingly at that doorway.
I’m not ashamed to admit that my jaw dropped when she walked out. My head spun, my knees grew weak.
Her eyes were shining brightly, the sparkling black eyeshadow and deep red lip complimenting her glowing green eyes and beautiful skin.
She was wearing a beautiful charcoal gray A-line that hugged her body in every perfect way before flowing subtly out from her hips. It fell off her shoulders in ribbons and had a drop back that revealed most of her entire spine.
Her inky black hair fell in large curls around her shoulders, pooling down her back, pieces pinned back with diamond clips. Diamonds that matched the dangling earrings and the heavy necklace that settled on her collarbone.
“We had to use quite a bit of makeup to cover up the hickies you left all over her, you animal,” Ash commented, hands on her hips as she took in her creation. “But she turned at good, no?”
Emily clasped her hands at her hips as she neared me, revealing a slit in her dress that stretched to midthigh, showing off her black three-inch heels.
“Emily, you look…you’re more beautiful than the galaxies swirling between our souls.”
Her smile grew, a breath leaving her as if she had worried I wouldn’t be mesmerized by her. She chewed on her lip as I held out a hand to her. “Gray, get it?” she asked, taking my hand.
