“Hey.” I make my presence known. Sadie looks like she’s ready to cry when she sees me. She quickly schools her face.

“Hey,” she greets me with a tight hug.

“You okay?” I whisper, and she nods.

“Yep, just stupid guy stuff.”

“Miss West.” Vincenzo greets. “I’m sorry to have to leave your party so soon, but I have an important meeting to get to. Thank you for having me as your guest. I hope you enjoy Oakridge and all it has to offer.” His words are polite, but there’s something in the way he says them that makes it feel strange. “Good evening, Miss Jenkins. I’ll see you soon.” Vincenzo leaves with Matteo following close behind. Strange seeing him without Santiago. They usually come as a package deal.

“What was that all about?” I ask, wondering what has Sadie so upset.

She waves me off. “Business. There’s an issue he needs me to remedy, and I’m not sure I can do it. It’s fine. Really.” She half-heartedly smiles. “It’ll be fine. I’m just stressing over nothing.”

Drea comes up behind Sadie with a smug look on her face.

Jinx is leaning on the bar with one arm, watching us intently.

“I warned you. I told you he only wanted one thing from you, and you let him have it. While you were healing up at home, all those nights he worked late, Jake was here with me just like I said he would be,” Drea spits.

“You’re only here because you’re The Princess,” she whines. “Please. You’re no princess, and you sure as shit don’t belong here among the Kings. You and your snobby-ass bitch friend. I don’t know why she’s here. With her crazy as fuck mother being locked up and a traitorous father, they only kept Sadie here out of pity.”

Drea’s words are all slurred and her eyes are red. She has to be on something to be this fucking stupid.

“What’s the matter, Sadie? Did Hawk go and break your heart when you found out he fucked you and left you for last week’s local sorority girls’ club? You know, he probably fucked at least three of them before they left town on Monday. But hey, I bet you got a good taste of them on his lips when you stayed with him in his room the other night.”

That’s a discussion Sade and I will be having soon. But not with an audience.

“I have no clue what she’s talking about,” Hawk grumbles under his breath. I don’t look back to see when he showed up or who he’s with, but based on his quick response of, “I haven’t fucked Sadie. I didn’t fuck a sorority group either, but I kind of wish I had now.” I assume it must be my dad.

“Ow.” The hard slapping sound of flesh meeting flesh followed by Hawk’s whine confirms my suspicions. But I don’t take my eyes off Drea.

“Both of you sorry ass bitches need to find somewhere else to get a man. You heard Hawk? He didn’t fuck you. You’re nothing special. No one fucking wants you, bitch. Look at your family. Both your parents left you. Your mother, the psycho bitch, tried to kill you. Avery here is busy with her new little life as Princess,” Drea whines. “Hawk sure as shit doesn’t have time for a disobedient brat like yourself. He needs a woman who will heel and obey his every command.” Drea goes on. “Do you even know how kinky he really is? Do you want me to tell you?”

I look over to see Sadie’s puffy eyes as she grabs her stomach and mouth and heads to the bathroom. I catch Jayde out of the corner of my eye, running after her. Drea turns her attention back to me and is caught off guard when I swing, and my left hook connects with her face.

Drea falls to all fours, holding her face and spitting blood on the carpet.

Holy shit! That was awesome. Hurts like hell, but awesome.

“You bitch! You’ll pay for that,” Drea yells, trying to get to her feet, only to be caught by my other hand wrapped in the back of Drea’s hair. I drag her to her feet and closer to the bar.

“You know, Drea, you were right when you said I knew little about the MC world and how things work around here.” I pull her head back to meet my eyes. Drea is grabbing my wrist, trying to release the hold I have on her hair. “But I’ve learned a few things that perhaps you weren’t too clear on. So, how about I teach you a few of the lessons I’ve learned?” I smile wickedly at her. I can see the fury and even the hint of fear in her eyes from here, but I don’t fucking care. She’s disrespected me, my best friend, and my man for far too long.

“First, you’re right, I am club royalty—by blood.” I shove her face down as I bring my knee up and am met with a sickening crack. Blood spurts from her nose and I have a sick feeling ofsatisfaction when I pull her back up to meet me face to face again.

“I’m also the SAA’s ol’ lady. Which, in case you missed it, means Jake. Is. Mine.” I accentuate each word with a slap to the face for good measure.

Letting go of Drea’s hair, I watch as her limp body drops to the floor. She’s crying and screaming, but no one makes a single move to help her. The men and women in the room all gather around, some with their arms crossed, all glaring at the whore on the floor. They’re all standing in a show of solidarity for me.

I spot Hawk a few feet away. When his eyes meet mine, I snap, “If this is your standard for women, you don’t deserve my best friend. Grow up and make better choices, Nathaniel. Sadie deserves better.”

Gabe drops his arm from Jake’s chest, where he must’ve been holding him back. I watch as Gabe doubles over in laughter.

“What the hell is so funny?” Jake asks, fuming mad.

Gabe puts his hand up while trying to catch his breath. Once he’s regained his composure, he says, “She is her mother’s daughter. Go get your woman and make sure she hasn’t hurt herself while dishing out that ass whoopin’.”

Jake doesn’t hesitate, storming through the room, grabbing my face in his hands, scanning over my body from head to toe.
