“Looks like Camille got you good,” I pointed at the big yellow splash of paint on his pants.
He chuckled shaking his head and then shrugged. “Seems like your friend doesn’t want me to produce any babies in the future.”
“To be fair, you did mess with her husband when you shot him.”
He arched an eyebrow. “I think she should realize that it’s only a game.”
I bit the inside of my cheek because Camille will decapitate him if she so much overhears.
“Cam is just over-protective,” She has her reasons for wanting to protect Corbin since he is the only guy who makes her feel alive without reminding her of her horrible past.
“She will protect all of us like that,” I added.
We are the only family she got after her parents passed away in a car accident and she would walk through fire to protect us.
“She sounds like a really good friend,” Brandon noted—not making a move to come closer or to sit down and it suddenly felt as if there was a wall between us.
“She is,”
Silence stretched between us and it almost felt like forever before anyone of us spoke. There was so much, but so little to say.
I kind of made it obvious I want nothing further to do with him since I started to ignore his text messages and calls.
I was the first to break the silence. “Congratulations on winning the championship.”
They must still be celebrating their second championship and who would blame them? It’s a huge moment—one that you don’t forget easily.
His smile didn’t reach his ears and I know I was the reason.
“It would be dumb of me to be surprised that you watched the championship game, but since you stopped talking to me on that same day it kind of made sense.”
O-kay so we’re acknowledging what happened. I for sure was taken slightly by surprise.
I brushed my hand over the other and remembered I was wearing the Stanley ring he handed me before he left. At the same time, I noticed him wearing his new championship (Stanley), ring.
“You probably want this back,” I muttered pulling it from my finger and holding it out to him.
He said nothing when he took it from me without removing his eyes from mine.
“So, that’s it? You are not even going to let me explain or tell me what I did wrong?” Brandon asked unable to hide his disappointment.
I’ve got nothing left to say because I watched him on live tv kissing a girl that wasn’t me.
He took the ring and walked away, but paused. “No, this can’t be it.” He grumbled turning back around.
“You are going to hear me out whether you like it or not.”
My eyes went round with surprise when I found him standing in front of me his chest rising and falling with anger.
“I can’t lose you for a second time, Sasha.”
“You should have thought about it before kissing Ashley.”
She kissed him.
My subconscious interfered while my conscious ran around and hit itself against the walls of my skull.
It almost looked as if I slapped him through the face when he took a step away from me.
