Then, two hands wandered around his throat, choking him, hard. So, he kicked with his knee against the guy’s balls andabdomen, but nothing happened. Next, he reached for his fingers, pulling both middle fingers, bending them back to the point of breaking until the guy finally loosened his grip – his chance.
“What does a little mother fucker like you want to do against me?” came the guy’s rasping voice.
And just when he wanted to make his next move, they both heard her.
“Nothing,” Emma said, standing behind the guy. “But I will.” And with it, she pressed his gun, the real one, against the guy’s head.
Unable to avert his eyes, he saw her in all her rawness, fearless as she seemed to be right now. There she was again, the girl he had seen before, with the darkness consuming her, daring, present, powerful. And he was one hundred percent sure she would pull the trigger.
“You either run, now, or your brain will be all over the ground. I’ll give you three seconds. One…”
Gods, she is even darker than I thought.
“Two…”
The guy jumped up with the skill of a cat jumping from a hot stove and ran like a sissy. Way faster than he thought possible for a man of his statute.
When his eyes flashed from following him back to her, she just stood there, staring down at him, the gun now pointed directly at his chest.
Something about her look warned him not to break the silence, nor to move. It was a dangerous look that left him with an arousing curiosity. Her gaze wandered slowly down to the gun in her hand, back to him. And without another word, she threw it next to him, turned around and walked away.
The hell she would walk away just like that!
So, he jumped up, too, took the gun, stored it back in the holster, and went after her.
“Ed, Greg, you listened,” he barked into the watch, while wiping the blood off his face with his arm, “he went west from where we are, size of a bear, black Carhartt hoodie, mid-long brown hair, green-ish eyes, trimmed beard, black no-brand sneakers, find him, take him down, attempted SA at gunpoint and battering.” And then he reached her. His heart hammering in blissful anticipation againsthis chest.
“What the hell were you thinking?” he hissed darkly at her.
“What do you care?” she snapped back at him without looking.
So, we’re playing that game.
“I thought you to have more regard for your life than walking dark places as a woman, alone.”
“So, you call me weak? Wasn’t it me who got the guy off you?”
“With my gun, after I got him off you, yeah.”
“You want me to…what? Thank you for stalking me? Shall I send flowers?”
Oh, you are gold, ma belle.
“Actually, you’ll come to my car with me so we can talk about whatever happened.”
“If you believe that I’ll set a foot in your car ever again–”
“Oh, you will, because what you did, strolling around here at night, was either because you are fearless or because you have no regard for your life.” Her eyes flashed at him with his last words.
So, it’s the latter.
“And either way, I will not let you walk around alone anymore.”
“Watch me.” And with it, she turned around towards the main walk.
Something in him snapped. He was much too aroused to let her go and only to teach her a lesson.
She had to learn.
