He shifted on the seat and sat up straight. “I’m very sensitive to medications and went off what was a baby dose of valium. It didn’t agree with me. Now I’m paying for that decision.”

So weird. He’d seemed fine during the evening. “Are you ill?” She stretched her hand across his tensed shoulder and kneaded the muscle.

Mac grunted. “I’m okay.”

Mo slid her arm down his back. He was trembling. She wasn’t going anywhere.

“I told you the post-traumatic stress wasn’t sexy.”

“I think you made up for it with the nude beach. How long have you been in here?”

“I don’t know. Long enough for the chills to subside. Fifteen minutes, a half hour?”

“That’s a long time to be in a steam room.” Probably too long.

Mac crossed his arms. “I put it on the lowest setting to warm, not hot. It feels good. I couldn’t sleep.”

Mo continued to massage his shoulder. “A nightmare?”

“Not this time. Oddly enough, the medication made me sleepless. I haven’t taken it in two days. It’s like going through detox as it leaves my system. I’m achy and cramping.”

How awful.“What can I do to help?”

“Rub my head? The headache’s a real boomer.”

“Sure.” Mo stood in between his legs, gently pulling his head to rest on her midriff and ran her hands through his hair, working in a circular motion. “Like this?”

He relaxed against her. “Yeah. It feels incredible. I must be ill. You’re in my steam room, and I’m not seducing you. It’s all I’ve thought about for three weeks.”

She gave his shoulder an admonishing tap. “There’s plenty of time to think about that once you’re feeling better. This is, however, a very sensuous, aromatic room. We’ll have to get you better real quick.”

He kissed a trail across her midriff. “I wish I could pretend that I’m healthy right now.” His words muffled against her skin.

A grin broke across her face. “You need sleep, Mac. When’s the last time you slept through the night?”

“I can’t tell you that. It’s incriminating.” He rested his hands on her hips.

“Be serious. You’ve got dark circles under your eyes.”

He took a deep breath. “Honestly?”

She gently massaged his head. “Yes.”

“The night of the wedding. There’s something about being with you that settles me down.” He lifted his head. “And pity sex is off the table, Reardon. It’s humiliating.”

Her heart melted. “Let’s go back to bed and curl up together like we did the night of the wedding. We’ll wake up whenever we feel like it.”

“I promised you the personal tour tomorrow. We should be up and out by eight.”

“We’re on vacation, Mac. Let’s act like it and sleep in. So what if we miss the port of call?”

He took her hands and kissed them. “Thanks, cupcake.” He dropped his towel and put on a bathrobe. “Are your eyes still shut?”

“Uh-huh. I pushed my visualization to the max with men on the naked beach. I’m not sure I want to come back just yet.”

“Very funny, Reardon.” He turned off the steam, tugged at her oversized t-shirt, and lifted a robe off a hook. “Leave your shirt on the counter. Use this bathrobe.” He held it open for her.

Mo shed the tee and slipped into the most luxurious robe she’d ever put on her body. “I could get used to living in a suite with all these amenities.”
