Regina blushed and shook her head. “Well, since my husband decided to quote put his foot down about more animals, I’ve been trying to figure that out.”
“Does that mean you’re not telling the guy that you won’t take them?” Clara asked.
“Yes. I want them. My grandkids are getting them, but I just need a good way to get them here.”
Beth jumped up. “I have an idea.”
Jesse waited to see what Beth would say. She couldn’t count how many times over the years that Beth had saidI have an ideawhich had turned into the best adventure.
“Well, let’s hear it. Don’t keep it in,” Clara said.
“I think the baby shower needs a theme. Like a petting zoo theme, where not only do we make the decorations all cute with little baby animals, but we have a petting zoo outside for all the kids. Only when it’s time for it to go home, it just stays.”
Regina just stared at Beth and then glanced around the room.
“That’s brilliant. I was trying to think of maybe giving Baron blow jobs until he couldn’t see straight, then asking him. This is way easier on my jaw.”
Jesse joined in the groans around the room. No matter how much she loved Baron and Regina, she did not want to think of them having sexy time. It would be like thinking of her dad with someone. She hoped eventually he’d find someone, but she didn’t want to imagine him in bed with someone. Yuck.
“Regina, I love you, but I do not need the image of you giving Baron blow jobs in my head,” Remi said.
“Yes, and I didn’t need to know that Roam wasn’t pierced, but you didn’t have a problem talking about that in front of me.”
“Jesse, do you have anything special you want on the list for the baby shower? Specific gifts you were wanting? Any special food? Pregnancy games?” Winnie asked.
Jesse hid a smirk. Winnie was such a good peacemaker sometimes. And she definitely had ideas about the baby shower.
“I don’t want the wrap the toilet paper around the belly. It’s none of your darn business how big my tummy is, and I definitely don’t need Cannon seeing a strip of paper as long as a motorcycle. And another thing, I don’t mind you all touching my stomach to feel the girls. But what is with people when I’m in public, just walking up and touching my stomach? Hello, personal space please!”
Jesse listened to the women who’d been pregnant agree with her. She didn’t really have any specific things she wanted for the babies. She hadn’t really started dreaming about buying stuff for them because she’d been worried for so long about Cannon’s reaction.
“Here, start putting stuff on a list of things you think you might want. I have a couple different sites. We can add more if there is somewhere you know you want something.” Regina handed her a computer along with a lap tray to balance the computer on. “If you want to move to a table, we can do that.”
Jesse shook her head. Having her feet up felt good and this was perfect. Winnie came over and sat on the side of the couch.
“I think you need to add a wipe warmer because if the wipes are cold, there is no way the baby is going back to sleep for a while. I also liked these sleep sacks for Joey. It kept him warm, but it was easy to change his diapers during the night.”
Jesse was amazed at all the stuff and couldn’t decide what was good.
“Do you have a color scheme for the girls’ room?” Meg asked.
“I think a neutral with maybe pink accents for the bedding. I mean, you know I love pink because of my coveralls, but I think maybe a light gray would transition well as they grow.”
She loved how people kept bringing her food and different people sat down to chat beside her. She didn’t have to get up except when she needed the bathroom.
“Oh, I like that idea. I like to paint. I’d love to help. Which room were you planning on?” Ellie asked.
“Well, there’s a little problem. I’d originally considered the smallest guest room, but with twins, I want the larger guest room, and currently, Cannon is in it.”
“Oh, you guys aren’t sleeping beside each other?” Tasha questioned.
With the change in Cannon in the last couple of days, she wouldn’t mind if they did. She knew it would be problematic for them to do anything but just having him beside her would be nice.
“No. When the guys dumped him off, they put him in there, which was great. If he would have been in my room, I probably would have smothered him in his sleep as mad as I was at him. But things have changed.”
Sarah sat down on the floor near the sofa. “What do you want?”
She wanted the whole ball of wax. The man, the kids, and a home where she could have the family she always dreamed of.
