He smiled and placed a chaste kiss on my forehead. “You could have fooled me.”

Cleaning himself up with a dampened paper towel, he tucked his still swollen cock into his jeans and zipped up his fly as insecurity and second thoughts flew back at me.

“Drake, we shouldn’t have done this.”

“I have no regrets.” He said it like he meant it.

“Well, I do. Besides all the baggage I come with, Hanson Entertainment frowns upon fraternization. I can’t afford to lose my job.”

Affectionately, he flicked my nose. “Don’t worry about it. I’m going to talk to my father tomorrow morning at our breakfast meeting.”

“What are you going to tell him?”

“The truth.”

A heated stretch of silence filled the air between us. I don’t think either of us wanted to face the truth or define it. I was scared; given my situation, a relationship with this gorgeous man-god didn’t seem feasible, and if it was only a fling, I feared hurting everyone involved and above all my precious daughter. Nothing good could come out of any kind of relationship with Drake Hanson.

Drake gently traced my silent lips with a finger and then cupped my shoulders.

“You need to go,” I blurted out.

His eyes locking with mine, Drake let go of me. “D-baby, it’s better that way. I don’t trust myself to sleep on the couch without ravaging you. And I have things at home I need to prepare at home for my meeting with my father.”

My heart heavy, I nodded, wishing he’d contested me. Ravaged me and stayed.

“Will you be okay?” Concern laced his voice.

I nodded again. Silently.

“You’ll make sure all your windows and doors are securely locked and your alarm is on?”

I nodded one more time. “Yes. I’ll walk you to the door.”

We reached the front door in no time.

“Dee,” he said softly as if my simple name was a prayer. Before I could unlock it, he plastered me against the wood, pinning my arms above my head and slamming his lips once more on mine. It was an impulsive, passionate, fiery kiss. A kiss that didn’t want to say goodbye. Before I stopped breathing, he pulled away.

His eyes seared into mine. “That was just a small thank you for giving me the bestest day of my life.”

Bestest.Ty’s favorite word. As the syllables vibrated in my ears, he let go of me and I moved away, my body weak, my bones liquid. With a trembling hand, I unlocked the door and then swung it open. Without saying another word, he stepped outside and walked toward his car. Standing in the doorway, I let the cool evening air revive me.

“Drake,” I called out. But it was too late. He peeled off the curb and was gone.

With a weighty heart, I closed the door, making sure to double lock it before I sagged down against it. Crouched, I folded my arms around my knees and silently cursed Drake for giving me the bestest day too. Damn him. And damn me for letting him.
