“If she were a spy, her aim would have been to get inside and blend in yet she made a hell of an impression that night. In fact I’d say if anything she stood out. I certainly won’t forget her in a hurry and I doubt others will. Have you learned nothing from living with King?”

King looks both amused and proud. “She’s got a point.”

Blade sighs and turns to look at me.

I shrug. “I never thought she was a spy, and I told you that. But I do what my president orders me to do.”

“When it suits you,” he grumbles, probably realizing I’ve learned more than I let on.

I grit my teeth. “I fucked her, Blade. I didn’t spill state secrets. I looked into her like you asked me to, knowing it might’ve killed any chance I had with her. It’s the responsible thing to do. It’s what’s best for the club, right?” I stand up, done for the night. “You don’t get to make me VP and then question my loyalty. Not when I might’ve just lost the first woman I’ve wanted in years for the club.”

“You didn’t give me her file,” he snaps, pissed. Well, that makes two of us.

“Check your email. I need to get some air.” I walk through the club, ignoring everyone around me, and head outside.

I start toward the warehouse when I hear arguing. I stop and look to the left, seeing Legs and Midas. I watch for a moment, making sure she’s okay, even though I know Midas would never lay a hand on her.

“Give me one good reason why I should stay,” she hisses at him.

When he doesn’t say anything, she shakes her head and shoves him. He doesn’t move, but after a moment, he lets her go. She storms away, leaving Midas to bang his head against the brick wall.

“Fuck.”

“You want to go for a ride?”

He jolts at the sound of my voice. “You saw that?”

“None of my business.”

He curses and walks with me toward the warehouse. “She told me she’s thinking of leaving,” he says.

“I know; she told me too.”

“She can’t leave. We’re her family.”

“And we won’t be if she goes? That’s not how family works, Midas.”

“You know what I mean. She won’t have anyone to watch over her out there. Here, she’s got brothers looking out for her.”

“Here, she’ll always be a bunny. She wants more.”

He rubs his hand over his face but doesn’t say anything else as we reach our bikes. I take off first, nodding to Hoops on the gate as I pass him.

I don’t have a destination in mind. I just need the open road to clear my head for a while.

I held off sharing with Blade for as long as I could. But after we found out she was a stuntwoman on the movie, he’d have known I could have her life story at my fingertips in minutes. All it took was typing in stuntwoman and her full name:Amity Regan Hollis, and everything was right there.

She started out as a gymnast, and after winning a silver medal in Rio, a horrific car accident took her mother’s life and ended her competitive career. For a year, there was nothing. But then she started her YouTube channel and began working on movies soon after. She’s worked on a bunch of films since. I watched some behind-the-scenes footage of her work on YouTube, which, of course, led me to her YouTube channel.

Falling down a rabbit hole has never felt so good and so terrifying. The woman is certifiably insane, but, fuck she’s incredible to watch.

Turns out my girl’s a bit of an adrenaline junkie. She’s done everything from jumping out of a plane to completing Navy SEAL assault courses. But even those have nothing on the parkour videos. I mean, I understood the concept, though I didn’t know what it was called. I’d seen it in a couple movies and thought it looked cool, but I never gave it much thought beyond that.

Until Amity. Now, all I can see is her flipping off roofs, running up walls, and jumping over buildings like she’s part ninja or something.

Spotting a gas station, I pull in and wait for Midas to pull up beside me. I take my helmet off and hang it on the handlebars while I fill up.

“You need anything while I’m in there?”
