Adam tore his gaze away. “I’ll get a fire started.”
It was no secret what the rest of the magical world thought of his kind. It was the same thing they thought about ogres and orcs. They were lesser beings. The only magical being that seemed to fit that stereotype were trolls, because they were shifty, untrustworthy, big-eared bastards.
Adam squatted down by the fire and began piling the kindling in his fireplace. He was trying to ignore the fact she was sitting there, on his bed.
She said she was on the run because she was being forced to marry someone, or so she claimed.
He couldn’t help but wonder who she was supposedly being forced to marry.
Banshees, even half banshees, were rare magical beings.
They were hidden away. However, she talked about an Order.
Adam didn’t even think that banshees were in this part of the world.
They are now, apparently.
The fire roared to life when he lit it. He closed the grate and then slowly stood up. She was curled up, sleeping. And as she slept, she glowed. Her pale skin taking on a luminous quality. The light emanating from her rippled across her flesh, much like the northern lights.
He watched for a few minutes.
Absolutely mesmerized.
She felt safe enough to sleep in his bed. It gave him a sense of pride.
Her cloak had fallen open and he could see every exquisite curve of her body, her milky white thighs slightly open. Hisblood heated as he thought of spreading her legs and licking her until she came.
I’ve got to get out of here.
Aoife had come here for protection and even though he was a Sasquatch, he was a gentleman. He crept out of his cabin slowly to take a swim in the small lake at the base of the cliff. It was cold and hopefully would cool this burning need to possess her.
To make her his.
Mine.
Another flare of flames coursed through him. A deep growl rumbling in his chest as a primal part of him was taking over.
He slipped outside, locking the door.
His brothers wouldn’t cross his threshold.
None of them were that disrespectful to invade another’s territory. His brothers were morons for the most part, but they obeyed the rules of decorum that governed their society. He could smell them, though; they had caught the scent of a female nearby and were lurking about, hoping to see her.
As he made his way down to the lake, there was a rustling in the bushes and his brother Benjamin popped out.
“Hey, I thought you were logging all day?” Benjamin asked.
“Change of plans.”
Benjamin sniffed the air. “Female.”
Adam growled under his breath, baring his long canine teeth, puffing out his chest to step closer to his younger brother. “Mine.”
Benjamin looked down, holding up his palms in submission. “Fair enough.”
“Tell the others and don’t be spreading the word around. It needs to be kept quiet,” Adam stated.
Benjamin cocked his head to the side. “Why?”
