Page 40 of His Little Devil

Wiping my mouth and pretending to cough, I clear my throat and begin.

“Donovan Blake is going to be a problem. I could wring Thimon’s neck for announcing his non-attendance to Silver, but it happened and I’m moving on. Now I need to fix the fucking mess he’s made with my fiancee.”

Kane snorts and bites his bottom lip to hide his smile. I know exactly what he’s thinking.

Who the fuck am I?

“Why did you invite the men that she left behind? Is it revenge? A way to rub your relationship in their faces?” he asks and I sigh.

“Yeah,” I confess, then feel like an idiot. “What is this woman doing to me? I’m fucking Lucifer, for Hell’s sake. I will rip your spine out of your neck with a wave of my hand for not following orders. I am not some petty school boy, but the fact of the matter is that Silver is only with me because I gave her an ultimatum. She loved those boys. I’m a consolation prize.”

A gasp at the door pulls my attention to my Little Devil. She has her hand over her mouth and tears fill her silver eyes. Groaning, I close my eyes and mutter under my breath, summoning a portal to take me to the Academy.

I need to get the fuck out of here. We have a coven meeting tonight, and maybe I can sacrifice some worms, or beat the shit out of someone.

“Master, you honor us with your presence,” Alara shouts loudly as she enters the clearing, right on time.

I was early. People in masks follow behind her, and I make sure my glamour is air tight. The only ones who know my true identity would never risk their lives or tongues revealing it.

“Master,” my servants shout and kneel at my feet. Blackwell stumbles up to my throne and collapses, reaching out with one hand to touch my boot, but I kick him away.

“Did I tell you that you could touch me, you sniveling worm?” I hiss, and he climbs to his knees, begging me for forgiveness.

Ugh, why did I decide to come here again?

Some of the students that I taught in my class strip naked and dance around the large fire, chanting, and I avert my eyes, meeting the gaze of one pissed off Jax Arrow.

I give him a smirk, and I swear he's growling. Silver's friend, Jade, tries to distract him, and I decide it's time for me to go.

I'd much rather curl up in bed with my Little Devil than listen to this drivel and sniveling.

I like that Silver doesn't act differently around me, or treat me like her King.

I think that's one of the things that always appealed to me from the start.

Standing, I wave my hand and pull up a portal. I'm expecting to be alone, but Clara comes out of nowhere and joins me in traveling to my castle.

“Forgive me, Master, but I needed to speak with you in private, and I was hoping to see Silver,” she says, keeping her head bowed, avoiding my eyes.

Growling, I lift my hand to strike her, then pause.

“I will honor you with leniency only once. You have been a loyal and devoted servant.”

“Thank you, Master,” she breathes, and then finally looks up at me. I wave my hand over my face, and my disguise melts away.

“How is she?” Clara immediately asks, and I groan, thinking about how she looked right before I ran away like some coward.

“Mad at me,” I blurt out, then wince. Clara blinks and then laughs.

“May I see her? Then we can chat?”

Nodding, I turn and start walking toward our room. It's late, and I know she's in there waiting. I can feel her worried energy and her remorse.

I knock on the door, because I don't know what state she's in at the moment.

“Come in,” Silver yells, and I open the door, letting Clara walk in front of me.

Silver's eyes widen and she has the biggest smile on her face as she pushes the tub of ice cream away and climbs off the bed.
