Page 39 of His Little Devil
I don’t know what I’m supposed to tell my magic to do… My stomach grumbles, and all I can think about is the blueberry muffins I made the morning I met the guys.
Kane laughs and I open my eyes. “Oh, wow!” I gasp. The whole room is full of baskets of muffins. “Are they edible?” I ask with a moan. It smells incredible in here right now, almost masking the fire and ash aroma.
“They won’t poison you, if that’s what you’re asking,” Kane says, standing and walking over to one of the baskets. “When I suggested you conjure something, I was thinking something small. This will feed the whole wedding reception,” he mumbles, then runs his hand over his scruff.
“Okay, well, that wasn’t so scary, but I’m done for now. I need to see Luke.”
I don’t wait for Kane. I stand, open the door, and go in search of my fiance, praying that he’s in a forgiving mood.
When I reach his office, I’m shocked to see Kane sitting there behind his desk.
“Next lesson, I will be teaching you how to portal places. Luke still isn’t back, and I told you, Silver, that I would talk to him.”
“Talk to me about what?” Luke asks from behind me and I jump. I turn to face him, but before I can say anything, Kane speaks.
“I kissed Silver, and she’s upset, thinking she cheated on you,” he mutters, and my eyes go wide. He sounds so nonchalant about it. I don’t know how demons react about relationships and sex, but before the guys, I was always monogamous. Not to mention, I’m about to marry the King of Hell.
Luke moves closer to me and surprises me by grabbing the back of my neck and pulling me into a really hot kiss.
“Umm,” I mumble and he laughs, then turns to face his cousin.
“No sex. She’s only having my heir,” he says, and I think my jaw is literally on the floor.
I’m sorry, what?
“Deal,” Kane agrees, as if I am not in the room too. “How did the meeting go? You seem relatively clean, so I’m assuming no beheadings took place.”
“Sire, we need to go over the guest list for the wedding. We still haven’t gotten a reply back from Donovan Blake… Oh, I’m sorry. I’ll come back,” Thimon says, walking into the room and then exiting as if he didn’t just rip a shred into my heart.
Ignoring the conversation that we really need to have, I take Luke’s hand and pull his attention to me.
“Why did you invite Donnie, Luke? You won in the end, are you really so cruel as to rub our marriage in his face?” I realize what I just said and snort, shaking my head.
Turning, I leave his office and walk to my room. I’m so fucking stupid.
I got caught up in the way he’s been treating me. I can’t believe I thought that the Devil would love me.
I’m a fool, but at least I saved Wellson’s life in the end. As long as he breathes, I’ll continue to do anything and everything, even if it means I’m destined for an existence of misery and mindfuckery.
LUKE
I fucked up, and for once in my existence, I’m starting to feel regret. I don’t know what my Little Devil is doing to me, butI’m changing. It’s almost as if she awoke my cold, dead heart, reviving it.
I laugh more, I smile, and she even has me being nice to my staff.
Kane and I watch as Silver storms out of my office and stomps down the hall to our room.
“Shit,” Kane mutters and I grunt in solidarity. Turning to my cousin, I cross my arms and raise an eyebrow.
“Is there a reason you’re in my chair?” I ask, and he hops up like his ass is on fire.
“Sorry, I was trying to beat Silver here to calm her down. I didn’t mean to kiss her like that, but there is just something so magnetizing about that girl,” he says and shakes his head.
“Yeah, I know what you mean. I don’t care what you guys do, but I am serious about the sex. Until Silver is round with my child, you will not breed her,” I say with a bite to my tone, and he nods, offering me his hand, so we may shake and make a magical pact.
“Good, now that we have an understanding, I need your help with something,” I say before moving toward my desk and taking my rightful seat.
Kane takes the couch and leans forward, all ears. He conjures a notebook and I laugh, shocking him.
