“Carla, if Silver wishes to add some more coverage, I’m sure we can accommodate her. Maybe a little lace overlay would work?” Merida asks, finally revealing the dressmaker's name to me, and coming to my rescue.

I’m becoming quite fond of the woman. Not only does she let me take over her kitchen when I need to stress bake, she’s kind in a world full of evil.

Carla steps back and gives me a thorough once over, then claps.

“Yes, that will make this even more enchanting,” she mutters. Carla snaps her fingers and I’m instantly nude, as she’s just conjured my dress from my body. Squeaking, I try to cover myself the best I can, and Merida bites her lips to keep from laughing as Carla runs from the room to get to work.

Layna rushes to hand me a satin robe, and I quickly put it on.

“I am never going to feel comfortable being nude,” I mutter, and Merida nods.

“It will take time, but in a few centuries, you won’t even bat an eye.”

“I don’t knowabout this, Kane,” I mutter as he leads me deeper into the basement. It’s blistering hot in here, and I’m not liking the look of that padded room he’s walking toward.

“Love, you need to practice your magic. I know it’s a new and scary thing, but it’s a part of you, and Luke needs to know that you can fight if it ever comes down to it.”

I stop walking and put my hands on my hips. “He told me that this war wasn’t a huge deal. More fucking lies,” I grumble. I’m about to turn around and stomp back toward his office, but Kane stops me.

“No, this pesky war is child's play. Luke will take care of it and return home. I’m talking about full on revolts against us.” He waves his hand as if this is no big deal, and though I’m hesitant to believe him, I do feel a sense of relief.

“Okay, but I still don’t want to use my powers,” I grumble and he laughs, holding out his hand for me to take.

“You will be magnificent, Silver. How could you not be with me as your teacher?”

Ha! Famous last words there, if I’ve ever heard them.

Kane smiles and drags me into the room, slamming the door. There is low lighting, and I’m assuming all the padding is to prevent any damage from spells gone awry. Still, that doesn’t make me feel very confident.

“Have you read Elena’s journal lately?” Kane asks, pulling me out of my upcoming panic attack. I nod and sigh.

“Not much, but some. I don’t understand why her entries are so dark. She ascended like I did, but she seems so twisted, and what she did to Peter… I know I was offered the same thing with Wellson, but still, how could she have done that to save herself?”

“Because, you, Silver Forest, are nothing like your ancestors. You may have accepted Lukes offer, but you are not malicious, tainted, or evil. I still sense good within you, and like I said before, don’t ever lose it.”

Kane moves closer to me and wipes a tear from my cheek that I didn’t notice had fallen. He stares into my eyes and rests his hand on my chin. I know what he’s about to do, and I’ll behonest, I don’t stop him when he presses his lips to mine, but I know it’s wrong.

I gently push him away and he blinks for a moment, licking my taste from his lips, then sighs.

“We shouldn’t have done that. I apologize, love.”

He walks away and takes a few deep breaths. His eyes are glowing red, and it looks like he’s fighting to control himself.

“I know you belong to Luke, but there is just something about you that draws me in. I have never felt this way about someone, but still, I am a man of honor… Well, as much as I can be, being a sex demon, that is.” He shoots me a wink, and I giggle.

“No more kisses. I will be professional and teach you about your magic,” he continues as he takes a seat in the middle of the room. “Now, I need you to sit and close your eyes. Take some deep breaths and clear your mind.”

I follow his instructions and try to not think, but I can't. He kissed me, and I kissed him back. Does that make me a cheater now? Before with Donnie and Wells, they shared me, but Luke seems possessive.

Fuck, am I a homewrecker? Is he not going to want to marry me now?

“I can feel you thinking, Silver. Take some deep breaths and try to concentrate. I will talk to Luke after our lesson and confess what I did. Everything will be fine.”

I take some deep breaths, and try to pay attention, but it’s hard. I know that kissing Kane is wrong, but he’s right. There is a connection between us. It’s been growing stronger every time we hang out.

“Okay, I need you to search for the light inside of yourself. Once you find it, I want you to picture it in a fluid manner as it swirls and moves. Then I want you to grab it, but don’t speak out loud. I want you to command it to do something small.”

It takes me a few minutes, and I’m about to tell him that he’s crazy, but then I see it. It’s a light purple, but shadowed with black. I picture it like liquid paint, flowing all over my body.
