Page 92 of His Little Devil
Turning, I leave them to fight and walk back into the castle, heading for my room.
I was close to a glimpse of freedom, but once again I’m trapped in a hell of my own making.
LUKE
“Have you lost your fucking mind!” I growl at Kane, and he rolls his eyes, running his hand through his hair.
His eyes glow and my cock twitches as he pushes out a burst of his lust.
“She needs a break, Luke. I was only taking her to the island. I would never allow her to be in danger,” he pleads, but I’m too angry to listen to his reasoning.
“She stays here until she’s bred with my child. Then you can whisk her away,” I grunt and he laughs, shaking his head.
“You may have wed her and made her our queen, but you are going to stifle any good she has left. I can see the darkness overtaking her more and more by the day. Everything you love about that girl will disappear if you don’t give her a breath of freedom.”
Turning he leaves me to think about what he said. I know he’s right, but it doesn’t matter. If Silver becomes completely evil nothing will change. She accepts my monster, and I will welcome hers.
She’s my soulmate. Nothing will change that. But is Kane right? Is she really that miserable? I don’t want her to feel like a prisoner here. This is meant to be her home. Her solace.
I know she wishes to return to the Academy, but that will never happen. At least not for a while. It’s too dangerous. The Hunters are not listening or following our agreements. Alara and Tobias Blake are failing as leaders.
Maybe it’s time I return to the coven meetings, and choose someone else as my patsy. Clara or Jade would do well.
Leaving the gardens, I walk back inside and order Shayna to her room. I thought she would be a good playmate for Silver and so she'd have someone to hang out with. Do girly shit with, but she seems to only piss my Little Devil off.
With a pout she walks off, and I move toward my office to make some plans and changes.
“I don't understand,Master! Haven't we been good to you? Your loyal, faithful servants?” Alara pleads for me to change my mind, but it's already done.
“Clara and Jade will run this coven now until I see fit to change it. You and Blake have taken too many handouts and shortcuts.”
“The attack wasn't our fault. I swear. The Hunter's knew not to step onto campus. They broke the agreement, not us. Please, Master, show leniency.”
Tired of her babbles, I wave my hand, sending her to Hell. Maybe a few hours with my Hellhounds will have her back on track. I hate being questioned and bargained with.
I glance at Tobias Blake, but he's on his knees, unmoving. He knows his time is coming to an end, but not yet.
“I have a job for you,” I tell him, and he nods.
“Anything, Master, I am your faithful servant.”
Sitting back in my chair, I grin.
“When the time comes, I want you to kill Jaxson Arrow and Wellson Birch.”
SIX MONTHS LATER
“Isn’t he perfect,” Silver coos, looking down at our son. I lean in and kiss her head.
“He’s going to rule the universe one day,” I say, and she rolls her eyes at me.
“He’s not even five minutes old, Luke. Let him be a baby for as long as he can,” she sighs, then yawns. Her eyelids are growing heavy, so I take my son from her arms, and move away.
She is a warrior, a true queen. Not only did she labor naturally for over a day, she didn’t want any drugs or potions for the pain.
I hold my son and gaze down at his silver eyes with a red ring and dark eyelashes.
“I have waited a long time to meet you,” I tell him, and he blinks at me. “Centuries you could say,” I continue, “And all it took was a moment in the Springs with your mother,” I laugh, thinking back to the day he was conceived.
