“I found something last night that made me think of you,” I tell her, watching the wonder slip across her face at my words, and I reach over to the little box I put it in, letting her see for herself what it was. “It was in one of the oysters that was delivered to the restaurant. I’m pretty sure it got put in with ours by mistake because one of the places on the beach sells onesthat are brought in specifically for people to find pearls in them. I knew it was meant for you as soon as I saw it.”

“Dylan!” she exclaims as I open the lid, showing off the white and silver pearl. There’s a pink hue to it though and there’s no doubt I was right in thinking she’d love it. “It’s perfect. I love pearls. I had to leave the ones I had at home behind when we left.”

“You have ones at home?” I ask in surprise because that’s the first time she’s mentioned anything about her home really.

“We’d go diving for them sometimes. It’s the only thing back home I liked to do. I love bright and shiny things. Like coins,” she adds with a giggle that’s adorable and tells me where the change I put on the dresser that first night likely went.

“You can have all the coins you want, angel,” I assure her, lifting her face further towards me to give her a soft kiss. “I thought we might go by the jewelers to see if they can make this into a necklace for you.”

Not to mention find a ring, but I don’t say that part out loud. I can’t scare her off, not now.

“Really? So I could wear it all the time then?” she says with a glance back at the slightly misshapen pearl.

“Whenever you want, angel,” I state with a nod, catching her when she jumps into my arms, and fuck, if I didn’t want to find a ring for her so badly, I’d take her straight back to the bed right now. I’m hoping to convince her to let me put the ring on her finger soon, to be able to tell her how much I love her, so staying in bed for a week straight needs to happen later.

Melodia’s eyes dart around as we drive through town, her smile growing when I pull up at the jewelry store. Her eyes flow over the front windows and for once, I’m eager to spend all kinds of money on glittering stones.

“Well, hello there, Dylan,” Hank says in surprise as we come into the shop. I didn’t want to take my girl to a chain storeand the only place around here that sells and creates things that would do Melodia justice, is Hank’s shop. It’s not shocking he’s amazed to see me here, especially with a woman in tow since he’s part of the Small Business Owners Association as well. “What brings you in here?”

“We were hoping you might be able to come up with a design for a necklace,” I state, sliding my arm around Melodia’s waist, bringing her further into my side as Hank’s eyes slip to her in amazement. “I was thinking something delicate but strong enough to hold the pearl.”

“Pearl?” Hank says and Melodia gives me the little box with a grin and I’m honestly thankful that I get to hand it to the man, and he doesn’t have the chance to touch her.

“I found it in an oyster mixed with the ones I got at the restaurant. Knew the second I saw it that it was meant for this one.”

“Certainly seems that way and I think I can come up with something for it easily enough. Do you want it rounded out?” Hank asks and the look that hits Melodia has me almost dying with laughter. The horror in her eyes is so sweet and I drop a kiss onto her lips calming her before answering.

“No, just polish it up. It’s perfect as-is.”

“Alright, well, let me grab my sketch pad and we can see what you might like,” Hank states and I nod, wrapping Melodia up against my chest once more.

“What do you think of the place?” I ask softly as the door behind us opens, bringing someone else into the space.

“It’s amazing, so pretty,” she says, her head turning along with mine when I hear my name being said in surprise.

“Dane, what brings you in here?” I ask him as Melodia’s eyes widen staring at Dane, who looks at her with equal surprise.

“Don’t I know you?” Dane asks, making her giggle, and I nearly let out a dark growl towards one of my best friends hearing her giggle at someone other than me.

“I was with Celestia the other day,” Melodia states and his jaw drops a hint before he shakes his head in shock, but it calms me to know not only is he clearly not interested inmygirl, but if her friend met Dane, she had to have been in good hands the last few days.

“Right…” Dane drawls out his eyes flickering over to the displays of rings before returning to Melodia with a bit of apprehension.

“So what bringsyouin here?” I ask him as Hank returns with a sketchpad in his hands.

“Uh…it looks like you’re busy. I can come back later,” Dane states but before he can leave, the bell jingles again, announcing the arrival of someone else and I chuckle aloud when I see it’s Duncan.

“Don’t tell me,” I whisper glancing down at the grin on Melodia’s face when she sees him, “Serenia?”

“Yup,” she giggles.

“Dane and Duncan are my two best friends,” I tell her, and the hope in her eyes, slays me. “Duncan, fancy running intoyouhere.”

“Yeah, I…” he stops talking as his gaze slips to Melodia in my hold and I lift a brow at him at the confusion there. “Do I know you?”

“I’m Melodia. Celestia and I were with Serenia when you kind of left with her,” my girl says. “They’re like my sisters, so if you’re here looking for something for them…”

“I…uh…yeah…well…” the two of them mumble through making me chuckle as I drop a kiss onto Melodia’s head.
