I inhaled Leo’s intoxicating scent, something sweet and fresh, and exotic. The interest I’d pushed aside earlier came back with a vengeance. Her eyes widened, her lips parted, and I gave in to a need I didn’t know I had. I wanted to find out if her plump lips were as soft as they looked. I had to taste her. I slammed my mouth down on hers and kissed her hard.
Leo struggled to get away for a second before it turned into something different and then she kissed me back. The small hands that had been pushing against my chest were now fisting my cut and holding me tightly. Her sweet mouth moved hungrily against mine, her moans of submission music to my ears. When our tongues meshed, all warm and wet, I lost it.
The groan that escaped me sounded like one coming from a bear. An unexplainable need of arousal uncurled in my gut as my dick rose to the occasion. Jesus, I should feel guilty for getting so fucking turned on by Leo when Jillian was the one that I wanted. Jillian was the woman I’d been watching and waiting to make a move on, but the timing had never seemed right.
Friends. We were still just fucking friends.
This woman meant nothing to me and yet having her in my arms was making me feel everything.
The car’s horn should have startled us apart. I reminded myself why I was kissing her in the first place and pulled away, anger close to the surface. Anger at myself for feeling guilty over how much I liked kissing Leo. I shouldn’t like kissing another woman. Hell, I didn’t even kiss the sweet tarts. I fucked them, though. I had needs and they were there for relief, and that was all. Until I made Jillian mine.
Fuck! I glared down at the little spitfire in my arms. She was flushed with heat, her eyes glossy. Her lips were swollen and wet. I’d done that to her, and I wondered what she saw on my face. Shit, I should never have kissed her, but the situation had called for drastic measures. To make sure she didn’t get the wrong idea, I curled my hand around the softness of her upper arm and pulled her with me.
“Come on.”
She tried to pull away and I swung on her like a vicious dog. “I’m done!” I snarled in her face. She flinched but I kept going. “Now get your ass on my fucking bike!”
She stared at me for a minute and then wordlessly went to my bike. I waited for her to climb on before joining her. “You ever ridden before?” I swung my leg over.
“No.”
“We don’t have far to go. Just hold on and lean into any turns I take.” I waited for her to wrap her arms around me, but it never happened. Her little hands tentatively clutched at my sides. I started my bike and reached down for her hands, wrapping her arms around me. I ignored her huff and crossed one hand over the other. “Don’t let go.”
“Don’t worry,” came her snarky response. “I’m looking forward to being locked up in the basement.”
Grinning, I took off.
Chapter 3
Leona
I held on tightly, thinking about that stupid kiss. I couldn’t get it out of my mind. At first I’d been shocked, and had fought to push Eagle away, but all too soon it had turned into something hot and devastating. Devastating in a way that had taken control of my body and produced a kind of arousal that I’d never experienced before.
Intense.
Consuming.
Even shocking.
I wasn’t a virgin. I’d had my fair share of sexual encounters, but this single kiss had dimmed the pleasure of those other experiences. It was insane that one kiss had done all that. And being crushed against a rock-hard body hadn’t hurt. The man was built! I’d felt his muscles even through his clothes, and the strength in his arms as I’d shamelessly clung to him and kissed him back.
My lips still tingled at the rough persuasion of it, but in a good way.
Too bad he was a criminal. The thought of being locked up in some smelly, dark basement frightened me. My brother was going to pay for my loyalty. The coward! I didn’t think the Soldiers were going to kill me, or even hurt me, but they wanted Ron’s name, and I suspected that getting it would dictate what would happen from here on out. I just wondered how long they would keep me prisoner at their clubhouse.
The closer we got to it, the more nervous I got. Of course we hadn’t passed any other vehicles on the country road that I might have flagged down. Before long, Eagle slowed and pulled into the salvage yard. It had once been Toby’s, but I noticed the metal sign that arched over the entrance to the yard now read “Soldiers of Retribution”.
We continued down a makeshift road, passing a small building that must have been the office. A wrecker was parked next to it. All kinds of old and damaged vehicles lined both sides of the road, some on top of others. I saw the large building at the end of the drive. It was obviously new. Bikes were parked around it, and there were also some trucks. Off to the side toward the back of the building I could see what looked like a huge warehouse or garage-type building with bay doors.
Eagle pulled his bike into a spot close to the door and cut the engine. “Off.”
Using his shoulders for support, I ungracefully brought my leg over as I slid off. Good thing I was wearing jeans because otherwise I would have flashed anyone looking. I looked around while he dismounted. I’d never been to the salvage yard before, but I knew it had been around since before I was born. Toby’s Salvage Yard was well known to the surrounding counties.
The front door opened, and a man came out. “I was just about to leave for the hospital. This her?” he growled in an unfriendly tone.
“Yup.”
“Bring her ass inside.” He turned and went back inside.
