“And then what?” I asked, looking back and forth between the two men. Surely they wouldn’t hurt Mandy. She was sick and needed help.

Eagle drew in a deep breath. “Send her back to the hospital.” I studied his eyes for the truth. “I want you to go home.”

“What? Why? I’m okay, Eagle. Just a little shaken up.” I looked to Mac.

He agreed with Eagle. “Gonna close early today, honey. You’ve had a scare, and we have shit to take care of. Snake will follow you.”

I didn’t question why I needed an escort home. I’d learned from the other old ladies that the men sometimes put one of the prospects on them when there was the threat of trouble. And truthfully, I was glad that Snake would be around. Knowing that the gun Mandy had pulled on me wasn’t real was reassuring, but it didn’t change the fact that she was still dangerous. I’d watched enough ID and Snapped to know that.

Eagle turned to Mac and Snake. “I need a moment alone with my woman.”

Both men wore smirks as they turned and left the office through the front door. Eagle’s arms were still wrapped around me, and when we were alone, he walked me backwards to the wall. Our eyes remained locked and when my backside hit the wall he flattened his hands on either side of my head, caging me in between his arms.

“Fuck, Leo, if anything had happened to you...”

“Nothing did,” I said quietly.

“It could have. I’ve seen Mandy turn violent. Until we know where she is, I’m going to keep a prospect on you.” I nodded in agreement. He grinned. “You’re not going to fight me on it?”

“You don’t have a stupid woman,” I smiled. “And I’m quickly learning what it means to be involved with you and your club.”

I found his smirk sexy. “You know what it means to be my woman, darlin’?”

I laughed softly, recalling what he’d said to me when we’d been at the lake, which also triggered what Mandy had said to me. “Eagle, Mandy was there, at the lake. She saw us. She said that was your special place with her.”

“Not true. I’ve taken a lot of girls there.” I punched him in the arm, and he leaned in close. “But only one who’s mattered.”

His kiss when it started, was soft and tender, exploratory. So unlike Eagle. But the more his mouth moved lightly over mine, teasing me, the more demanding he became, until his mouth was grinding against mine and our tongues meshed into an intimate dance. I moaned loudly when his body relaxed into mine and I could feel the hard, defined muscles that made up this magnificent man, including the throbbing muscle between his legs.

He groaned and pulled away, resting his forehead against mine. “Fuck, I have to go.”

“Are you sure?” He nodded. “Are you still coming for dinner?”

“Wouldn’t miss it, darlin’.” He stepped back. “Come on. Grab your purse and go home.”

I wasn’t going to argue with him. I could use the extra time to bake a cake for dessert. I snatched up my purse from behind my desk and met Eagle at the door, and then he walked me out to my car.

He opened my car door and then leaned down to kiss me after I was settled behind the wheel. “See you later.”

“Okay.”

Snake stayed close behind me as I drove, and when I got home, he pulled behind my car and turned off his bike.

“You’re staying?”

“Those were my orders,” he answered.

I didn’t let his briskness bother me because I’d learned early on that that was just his way. “Well, if you need anything, just knock.”

He acknowledged my offer with a nod, then dug out his phone and sat back on his bike.

I couldn’t imagine having the mundane job of sitting outside someone’s house for God knows how long and with nothing to do, but I had to admit that knowing that Snake was there made me feel a little safer.

Chapter 30

Eagle

We locked up the garage and headed back to the clubhouse. We’d been in the middle of church when Coke had come running in to say that Mandy had shown up at the shop and was confronting Leo in what looked like a threatening manner. He’d pulled the feed up on his phone and I’d taken a minute to watch what was going on before I’d stormed out of there with Mac and Snake on my heels. Thank fuck Mac had taken the initiative to install a security camera in the office after Mandy had shown up the first time, although it would have been nice if he’d checked to make sure the sound was turned up.
