“You look beautiful,” he whispered, his eyes never leaving mine.

“Thanks,” I whispered back. I noticed him tapping his feet so fast on the floor that the entire seat was shaking. I placed my hand on his knees without thinking. His eyes immediatelywent to it. He placed his own over mine, locking his fingers and holding it there.

“Are you nervous?” I noticed that his other hand was rolling a guitar pick between his fingers. That was what he always had in his hands.

“Kinda. I mean, I played here a few times before. But it’s a bigger crowd now. There might even be a scout out there— who knows? Anything could go wrong. I could fuck it up.”

I ran my thumb over his hand. “You will be fine. Your songs are incredible, and you are amazing. And, hey, even if you screw up, that’s okay. Everyone is allowed to screw up sometimes.” I assured him.

A smile crept up his face. “You think so?”

“I know so.” I smiled back.

“If you two are done undressing each other with your eyes, we have a show to play, Emmie,” Mike announced and soon received a smack on the head from Katy. “What?” he mumbled, rubbing his head.

“Fuck off, asshole.” Jay rolled his eyes.

“Guys, we have five minutes before we start,” Katy said as she walked outside with Lan and Matt.

“Come on, fuckers! It’s show time.” Mike grinned in glee while doing a thrusting motion with his hips, and this time he received a swap from Lily.

“Woah, ouch little mouse, what was that for?”

“You know what it was for,” Lily replied, rolling her eyes as she walked away.

“I swear the Jamesons are the worst.”

“Stop fucking with my sister, you asshole,” Jay said as we got up from our seat. He let go of my hand and carefully picked up a fiery red electric guitar from the case beside him. He strapped it around him and pushed it behind his back. He grinned as held out his hand for me again.

I smiled as I stepped into his grasp, and he pulled me closer. “I need my good luck kiss.” He raised a brow.

My eyes literally bugged out of my head. He laughed at my expression. “Just kidding, don’t worry.”

I didn’t know what came over me as I leaped onto my tiptoes cradling his face as I pulled him to me, and planted a kiss on his cheek. I stepped back immediately, my heart pounding, as I flushed all over. I couldn’t believe I just did that.

He full-on grinned. And I swooned.

The girls and I settled on a good spot in front of the stage. People were chanting their names, as we waited for The Four Foxes to take the stage. The lights darkened as the anticipation built.

The crowd roared as the guys strutted onto the stage with their stage faces on. It looked like they were in their element, doing what they do best. But I had my eyes trained on only one of them, who was currently peering into my soul with his blue-blue eyes.

Jay walked to the microphone with so much confidence. It looked like all his previous nervousness had slipped away. And when he gave them a cocky smile and introduced the band, the crowds went wild.

He transformed as soon as he hit the first note of their opening song. It was like he came alive on stage. It was like he was one with the music. I finally understood that he was meant to do this. That he was meant to be a star.

And all of them were really good at performing live. The band aligned perfectly together like they had been doing this their whole lives.

Mike was the one who had the most fun on stage and the girls ate it up. He was all over the stage interacting with everyone. He even lost his shirt at some point, revealing some of his tattoos that made the girls scream and Lily blush crimson.

Lan was the most serious while he played the keys and sometimes, he switched to an acoustic guitar depending on the song.

Matt absolutely smashed the drums—he grinned as sweat drenched his entire body. But he didn’t care, he was in perfect sync with everyone and never missed a single beat.

But Jay commanded the entire room—it was so apparent why he led the band.

I felt his voice deep in my bones—it was soul-crushing and electrifying. His expert fingers moved along with the guitar with such confidence that it was the hottest thing I had seen in my life. The entire set, I stood there, lost in his trance, with his eyes fixed on me the whole time.

“That was amazing. You killed it, babe.” Katy hugged a sweaty Lan and kissed the hell out of him just as we made our way backstage to greet the guys.
