I glanced at Matt, who was beside me. “You were really good.”

“I hope you enjoyed the show,” he said softly.

Matt was just like Katy, only less social. Besides Jay, he was the only one of the guys I felt at ease talking to.

“Guys, come on, we have a bonfire at the lake.” Katy laughed as Lan carried her out the door.

My eyes roamed around the room. Jay was nowhere to be found.

“He is putting away his guitar in the van. He doesn’t like anyone touching it.” Matt smiled, noticing me.

“Come on, bitches, let’s get the party started.” A leggy blonde made her way to Mike. He pulled her in, grabbing her ass.

Lily’s eyes flashed with anger as she looked at them. Hmm, she actually liked him.

Matt ushered me outside to the fields. “Em will make it there, I texted him.”

“I wasn’t looking for him,” I mumbled as I walked outside with the gang.

He laughed. “How are you finding Bellevue?” he asked, changing the subject. We reached the bonfire, which was already filled with a lot of people. We took a seat near the fire because, God, it was cold.

“I love it. It’s not what I expected. It’s so different from the city.” I answered him.

“Let me get you a drink. What do you want?”

I looked around and it looked like everyone was mostly drinking beer. I had never had alcohol before, and I didn’t want to have one today.

“I will just have water, please.”

“Oh, come on, don’t be a prude. Have a beer, darling.” Mike teased.

“No, thank you.” I scoffed and at the same time, Katy swapped his head again. “Shut the fuck up, Mikey.”

“Ouch, you girls are the worst.” The blonde in his lap started rubbing his head and shoved her tongue inside his mouth. He happily responded, groping her breasts. Whew.

Poor Lily.

Jay came in just as Matt handed me a bottle of water and settled in beside me. I waved to him, but he ignored me and took a seat near the keg. I looked at him, confused.

“You bother him,” Matt said, noticing my gaze.

“Uh, no, I don’t.”

“Well, he definitely looks like he is shooting daggers at me with his eyes. If it isn’t because of you, I must have done something grave to piss him off.”

I glanced at Jay again, and sure enough, he was staring holes at Matt’s head, the muscles in his jaw twitching. “Because of me?”

“He is jealous.” Matt smiled. “He thinks we are flirting.”

“No offense, but that’s absurd.”

A pair of arms snaked around Jay’s waist. It was Lia from the cafeteria. Soon enough, a couple of guys surrounded them, and they all started laughing.

My heart sank when I looked at them.

“It looks like he has company,” I murmured.

Jay didn’t let go of her instead he pulled her in and wrapped his arms around her. I felt a pang of jealousy rush through me. I couldn’t believe him.
