And I spent the entire week worrying. Because I still hadn’t figured out what to do with White. I felt helpless.
I slipped on a thin robe over my PJs, too tired to dress up as I headed to the kitchen to get some coffee.
I called Aunty M as I walked through the endless corridors.
“Hey, Aunty M.”
“Evy, how are you, darling?” Aunty M said it in her usual cheery voice.
“Fine, Aunty M.” I lied. “I miss you.”
“I miss you too, darling. OMG, you are going to make me cry now,” she chided.
“Don’t cry, Aunty M. How is everything, Seatle? Is Liam treating you well?” I powered the coffee machine as I placed my pink mug on the stand.
“Seattle is amazing, sweetie. And Liam is excellent, and yes, he is treating me so well that I feel like a princess now.” She laughed.
I smiled. It was good to hear her laugh.
“Has L.A. been treating you well? How is Emmie?”
I sighed. I hated Los Angeles because everything in my life had been going wrong since I came here.
“L.A. is good, and Jay is doing fine. He is busy practicing and recording. But he spends every moment he can with me.”
“That’s good to hear.” Aunty M giggled.
I heard laughter in the background and what sounded like Liam’s voice.
“Sweetie, I got a go now. Sorry.”
“By—”
Beep. The phone cut off. I sighed—at least Aunty M was having fun. She deserved it.
I took my coffee outside to the swimming pool, and I saw Will chilling on one of the lounge chairs. The Crash Riders hardly ever practiced, but somehow, when they played a show, they killed it.
“Hey, Will,” I said as I took the seat next to him.
It looked like he had just gotten out of the pool with his wet hair.
He pulled the sunglasses down his nose and grinned, “Evy, your man is not here yet?”
“No,” I mumbled.
“You look out of place.”
“What do you mean?” I asked him, confused.
“You hate this. The whole L.A. scene”
“Yeah, I do. I am only here for Jay.”
Will nodded. “You guys are a few of the lucky ones. It is rare to find love like that.”
I sighed as I stared ahead, sipping on my coffee. My mind was running wild.
“You swim?” he gestured to the pool.
