Logan catches on quickly and shifts the conversation, “But I didn’t really talk to him until I walked into The Needle for a tattoo the next day.”

“Oh, shit. I knew you looked familiar. I don’t know if you remember Gray pushing a very handsome tall blonde out the door when you got there but that was me.”

Logan thinks I’m cocky. This dude knows he looks good and uses it to have a constant revolving door of women in his bed every night.

“Ohh, that’s why I thought I’d seen you before. I remember now. He shoved you out like he’d been caught with a girl in his room. But I see so many people every day, so I assumed I saw you at the ER. You probably understand, owning a bar and all.”

I pinch her side at her little dig, and she kisses my cheek.

Just like I expected them to, the two fall into an easy conversation. At some point, I think they forget I’m here and I sit quietly, occasionally commenting on something one of them says. I don’t mind. My girl is as close as I can get her while keeping it PG for Noah and as long as she is happy, I will sit here as long as she wants.

Resting my head against her shoulder, I listen to her and Noah go on about some random show they watched when we were kids. I have never been so content in my life. I have a hard time sitting still for long periods of time. That’s why I love tattooing because my mind is preoccupied with the design and the vibration of the gun gives me constant stimulation. Sitting here with Logan doing nothing, I feel relaxed.

I feel myself starting to fall asleep and I take that as a signal that I need to take a break from the water.

Tapping Logan’s leg so I can get up, I’m surprised she doesn’t freak out. She just scoots over and continues talking to Noah about her favorite hiking spots.

I stand and get out of the hot tub. Wrapping a towel around my hips, I lean over the side and kiss Logan. “Hungry?”

An excited smile spreads across her face. “Yeah.”

Looking to Noah, I ask, “Are you staying for a while?”

“Yeah. Pizza?” he asks.

Knowing Noah, I can tell he’s being a sneaky little shit. “When are the others getting here?”

Logan’s head snaps to me and her smile morphs into panic, spreading across her flushed face.

Noah looks from me to Logan. “You’re lucky they are all out of town, but they know about your girl and want to meet her.”

Logan lets out a sigh of relief and finishes off her beer.

“You’re an ass. I’m going to order pizza,” I say glaring at Noah. I focus my attention back on Logan. “Want another beer, Angel?”

“Yes, please.”

“You got it.” I steal another kiss and head inside.

“Me too, Gray,” Noah calls after me.

I throw my middle finger up without looking back and hear him yell after me as I shut the door to the house, but I ignore him.

I find my phone sitting on the island. When I tap the screen, I see a missed call from my mom and a few texts. It’s going to take a while for the pizza to get here so I call the diner quickly and place the order.

After I hang up, I peek out the window to check on Logan and see that she’s in a very animated conversation with Noah. I don’t want to interrupt so I call my mom.

“Well if it isn’t my least favorite child.”

I roll my eyes. “Hi, Mom.”

“Hi, sweetie. How are you?”

“Mom cut the shit. Just ask.”

“Oh, thank god. Tell me everything. Who is she? Where did you meet her? How long have you been together? Oh, hang on, Conrad come over here and listen to this. Gray has a girlfriend!”

I can’t help but smile at her excitement. My mom is my favorite person, next to Logan. She has put her neck on the line not just for my brothers and me, but so many others.
