I roll my eyes and hug him closer to me.

Another breeze hits us, we break apart and Grayson tugs the coat tighter around my body.

“Let’s get you inside first and then I will come out and grab our stuff.”

We walk hand in hand up the few stairs to the front door. Grayson types in a code and opens the door, stepping ahead of me to turn the lights on and check the place, before waving me inside.

I thought the outside was stunning but the inside is just as beautiful. A giant kitchen sits at the back of the room with a large island separating it from the living room. The living room makes the place feel very cozy, with the giant stone fireplace and a huge window that looks out into the yard.

“Wow, Gray. This place is…”

Grayson comes to stand next to me after flipping on all the downstairs lights and checking the entire downstairs.

My paranoia for having everything locked hasn’t completely gone away and neither have my nightmares. Some days are better than others, but I know Gray is doing this to give an extra push of reassurance.

“I knew you would love it. Landon has a friend he met in the police academy that is from here. I’ve been up here a few times but kinda forgot about it until I mentioned it at the last family dinner and Landon reminded me.”

“I have no words, Bear. This place is so peaceful. I bet it’s just as beautiful in the summer.”

Grayson plants a quick kiss on my cheek. “Let me go check upstairs really fast and then I will grab our stuff from the truck before we venture into town to find food.”

I nod then remember something. “Wait!” Grayson pauses at the bottom of the stairs and flashes me a confused look. “Umm. I need to go grab something from the truck.”

“I can handle bringing in the stuff pretty girl.”

“Yeah yeah, macho caveman. I meant that I may or may not have a surprise of my own that I snuck in the truck that you can't see until Christmas morning.”

Grayson chuckles. “Oh. You mean the presents you hid under the blanket in the back seat?”

I stare at him confused and a little pissed off.

“What? You didn’t think I would notice you hauling a wagon full of stuff from the closet I have been banned from for the past two months?”

Crossing my arms over my chest, I roll my eyes and say, “You know you could pretend to not be in tune with everything I do and let me surprise you for once.”

“You do surprise me every day, pretty girl. You surprise me when you wake up and choose me. I don’t think I will ever be good enough for you, but I will never let you go.”

Damn this man and his words.

I stand shocked and speechless for the second time today.

“Love you, Angel. Be careful on the steps, they are a little slippery and I can’t have you breaking anything. We have a full week of activities ahead of us that require both legs. And I’m not just talking about me fucking your pretty pussy into next year.”

With that he takes the stairs two at a time.

This freaking man will be the death of me one day with that mouth

Chapter Five

Grayson

DowntownWillowLakeisjust as nice as the cabin. It looks like I drove into one of the Christmas movies Logan has been making me watch every day since Thanksgiving.

We spent over an hour exploring the local grocery store and stockpiling more food than we need.

Logan is currently making a mess out of the kitchen cooking dinner and some holiday dessert she found online.

I finish placing a log in the fire and walk over to my Angel dancing around the kitchen in one of my long sleeves and no pants. After the first hour of her being a little nervous being here, she settled in. Once I brought the fake Christmas tree in and a box containing all of her presents, she said it was already the best Christmas she ever had.
