Cora: I don’t know what to say…

Cora: You need to talk to her about that BEFORE I tell her then.

Me: Yeah, I know I will.

Cora: I’m serious Kohen. Y’all need to get on the same page if you truly love each other and want this to work. She needs to know how bad this got for you.

Me: I know.

Cora: ttyl, oh and the appointment is Tuesday at 1.

Me: ttyl

With that, I grab my gym bag and head to the training center. I know we have the week off but I need to burn all this anger and energy somewhere productive. But first, a smoothie.

Chapter 18

Kohen

Thesmoothieandagym session were just what I needed. I gather my shit and head out the door when I spot her. She is squatting and Levi is behind her, spotting for her, and jealousy fills me. Rage rises in my body and floods every sense. Like a pot that was simmering just exploded, pushing me in their direction.

His hands are on her hips, fingers spread across her flesh, and those goddamn shorts she is wearing display her round ass for everyone to see. And they arelooking.

“What the fuck is this?” I shove him.

He falls forward, catching himself on the machine next to where they were set up.

“Kohen, what the fuck?” She moves to check on him and I lose it.

“Why the fuck are his hands all over you like that?”

“We are working out, you fucking caveman.”

Her cowboy holds his hand, blood spilling down his arm. Security makes its way over here. My monster pulls back as if he knows we can’t afford to be in any more trouble. I’m walking on a thin line. Coach knows all the shit I was doing and he is hiding it all at my father’s request. When I say request, I mean forced hand.

The realization of what I did settles in my mind where it was blocked by rage.

“I’m-I’m sorry. I don’t know what happened. I just kind of reacted.”

“It’s alright, man,” Levi says. “Nothing to get bent out of shape over.” Right when he finishes that sentence, security reaches us,

“Everything okay over here, fellas?”

Levi speaks before I can get a word out, not really knowing how to explain what happened. My stomach drops, this is it, I’m going to lose everything.

“Yes, sir. Everything is okay. Kohen saw us and we were playing around and I tripped over this cup. I hit this here machine, catching myself and it looks like my pinky nail is bleeding. Do you mind escorting me to a first-aid kit? It’s pouring out like an oil spill.”

The guards look at each other and then at all three of us. I can tell Alex is pissed.

“Kohen, can you take Alex home for me? I don’t want to keep her waiting.”

She looks at him with eyes wide as he pleads with her to understand. The silent communication makes me jealous again. I thought I was okay with this, I thought I understood their friendship because I have a similar one with Cora. What the fuck is happening to me?

“Yeah, man. I’ll take her if she lets me. I’m sorry, I…”

“It’s good. No worries, I get it. Trust me,” he cuts me off.

My Angel speaks just then, “Lee, I want to stay and make sure your finger isn’t broken.” She rests her hand on his arm, preventing him from walking any further away from us. Lee, she called him Lee. I told her my mom called me that. Why would she give him that nickname?
