“So what are we missing then?”

“Josh is a dick.Amy, a stalker.Melody is possibly in danger.”

Fuck.“I do not want to hear that.”

“Security risks are my thing.I’m telling you, I don’t like what’s happening here.”

“What are we supposed to do about it?”

Dean had never looked more serious.“Protect Melody at all costs.”

Fox swore again.“How am I supposed to explain this to Melody?”

“If this is just an infatuation for Amy, maybe it will wane once she sees you and Melody together more.If it’s something else…then we have to tell Melody, so she’s not taken off guard.Or used against you.”

“Fuck! This is the last thing I wanted.”

“I know. But maybe if you just come clean with Melody about just how much your life has changed, then maybe she’ll be willing to come to Boston now versus later.”

“Is she any safer in Boston?”

Dean hung his head, knowing that she wasn’t.

“Is this what it’s going to be like?Am I going to be constantly worried about her?”

“Yes.But it will be worth it if you two are happy together.”Dean took a step closer.“She’s smart and tough and independent. She knows her own mind. She’s made it clear, you’re the one she wants to be with.Have you talked to her about moving to Boston?”

“Yes.She’s interested. She understands that I need to be there. But this thing with us is new.”

“I get that. But it’s also years in the making.I know you want to be here for your mom, but maybe you take both of them back to Boston.”

“I’m not living with Tanya, I don’t care how big my place is.It won’t be big enough.”

Dean shook his head.“You could put her in an assisted living place close by.She’d have round the clock care and maybe make some friends.”

It would make things easier. But… “Tanya wants to stay at her place as long as possible. It’s the only home she’s known.”

“Except she also keeps telling you she wants to travel.”

Fox shivered.“Yeah, I’m not up for that kind of togetherness.”

Dean frowned.“You can’t stay here and run the business the way you normally do.”

“I know.”Things were starting to get away from him.Since he wasn’t in the office and everything had to go through email, his assistant, or by phone, it seemed to not be handled as expeditiously as when he was actually in the office.

He had an idea.“Melody is off work for a couple of days because of her injuries.Perfect time to take a short trip to Boston.”

“Do you think she’ll go?”

“Yes.”

“Do you think she’ll suspect you’re trying to get away from Amy and possibly Josh for a few days?”

“No.And I don’t want to tell her about those suspicions yet. When we get back, we’ll see how things stand.”

“You know she’s going to have questions when she sees your place in Boston and the company.”

“I know. And maybe that will be the perfect way to tell her everything.”
