“Well, you see, I just worked out the biggest weapon partnership you have ever had while running this MC, President.” I elongated her title, my smirk growing as her eyes got wide.

That’s it—realize what this means. Realize that you’re not looking at your enforcer. Oh no, you are looking at your new VP.

“Shut up. Are you fucking for real, Kordell? You bagged a weapons contract with the Kkangpae?” She stood up and paced the room. Damien did that when she was mulling things over.

“Yep. The road captain and the sergeant of arms can back it up. They were there when the deal was struck. It’s a done deal. This is going to change the gang’s future. There is no way you can turn me down for VP now. No one will doubt my abilities to handle stuff with this deal under my belt. And our first large order is due soon. This is an instant payday, Prez. No need to say thanks. I know I’ll be rewarded with what I want on my back.” I smirked over at her and leaned back in my chair.

She looked me over for a good moment, then nodded, a small smile breaking onto her face. “Well, damn. Guess you’re right, Enforcer. I’ll go make the call right now, and we will try and get you your title change. It might take a while of convincing, but you have my vote.” She walked toward the door, opened it, and paused before exiting. “You did good, Kordell.”

I kicked my feet up onto the table. Damn right, I did.

And I knew what girl I wanted to celebrate this win with.

Rosalie.

CHAPTER 7

ROSALIE

I stoodin front of the door to my brother’s house, ready to find out what was going on with him and Bonnie. And to also figure out who the heck the woman was who had been in the car with him that night. The same car I had seen that night was parked in his driveway as I pulled in today.

I rang the doorbell, and Bonnie opened the door.

“Hey, Rosalie. Come on in.”

Bonnie always did have the smallest little hint of a country accent that gave her voice a soothing quality. If you weren’t around her enough, you would never pick it up, but I could hear it.

I flashed her a smile and gave her a little hug.

“Hi, Bonnie! How are you?” I asked as we walked into the house and down the hall to the open-concept kitchen, dining-and-living-room combo.

She seemed really happy these days. They were home together more often, so maybe it was all the time they took off from doing things for the MC they were in lately? It had been pretty tense there for a few months. I could see how stressed Bonnie was whenever she was home. She smoked more when she was stressed out. And Jayden was less communicative whenhe was busy doing stuff for the clubhouse. But lately, they had both seemed like they were in a lot better moods.

“Doin’ just fine. Hey, can you do me a favor today, Rosalie? Keep an open mind when Jayden talks to you?” She threw me another smile, and I tilted my head.

That was a little confusing. I wondered what she meant because I thought I was a pretty open-minded person in general. I had a lot of different friends and met all kinds of people at Dad’s custom shop and never treated anyone poorly because of how they looked, the way they talked, or where they came from.

When we rounded the corner to the living room, I saw Jayden sitting on the couch with that girl who had been in the car with him, cuddled up next to him. He had his arm around her waist as Bonnie walked over and sat next to him on his other side. I watched as he wrapped his other arm around her waist, and I went and sat down on the other couch across from them.

“Hey, sis,” Jayden said with a smile. Then, he gave each of them a squeeze and stood up.

Walking over to me, he leaned down and gave me a hug. He walked into the kitchen and grabbed a glass of something to drink before he offered me water, which I took him up on since I was thirsty because I was nervous and I didn’t know why.

“Soooo… you said you wanted to talk to me?” I said as he sat back down between them.

He turned and kissed Bonnie on the lips before turning his head toward the other woman and doing the same. My jaw dropped a bit. Okay, maybe it was a lot. Jayden saw and laughed.

“Yeah, I did. First, let me introduce you. This is Rachel. I know you saw us in the car the other night. Should have probably sent you a text so you wouldn’t wonder about what was going on. But today, I’m going to fill you all in, and you can ask any questions you want, all right?” He leaned back and started to sip on his drink as he stared at me.

Ohhh, I had so many questions. He’d opened Pandora’s box, and he didn’t even know it. But where do I begin? I guessed just like how I met anyone new. I stood up and walked over to them.

“Hi! Nice to meet you. You probably already know this, but I’m Jayden’s sister, Rosalie.”

I reached my hand out for a handshake, and she shook it. Her hand was so soft, but her handshake was firm as heck. She was also GORGEOUS. Like top-model gorgeous. But there was something in her eyes that made me feel a little… intimidated. Like this woman had seen some stuff. You could tell she had this exterior of charm and light, but her eyes were stone cold and serious.

“Pleasure,” she replied. Well, heck, even her voice was smooth and sexy. Like the kind of sultry tones that you could listen to for hours even if she was just reading a menu.

I sat back down and took a sip of my water. Looking between the three, I started my questions, and the first ones came out in a rush. “Okay, so are you and Jayden breaking up? I mean, I know you just kissed, but still. Or do you, like… all date each other? How does that work? Isn’t that kinda cheating? Do you all live here? Do you all sleep in the same bed? Wait… that was probably really personal to ask. Forget the last question!” I took a deep breath and sipped my water again. Heck, even I was overwhelmed by the amount of questions I’d fired off.
