Jayden chuckled and started answering, and I was surprised because he actually answered every question.

“First, Bonnie and I aren’t breaking up. Sorry to surprise you like this, but Bonnie and I actually got married a few months ago. And Rachel is my girlfriend. No, we’re not all technically dating each other. We’re polyamorous.” He looked between the women on each side of him, his smile growing as he kissed Bonnie and Rachel back-to-back again.

“WAIT A MINUTE… YOU’RE MARRIED?! Do Mom and Dad know?! And what’s polyamorous?” I didn’t know what that meant.

At my outburst, Jayden smirked and laughed, then looked over at Bonnie as Rachel pulled a blunt off of the ashtray on the table and put it to Jayden’s lips. He puffed as she lit it with a lighter and took a drag off it, looking at her and smirking before gently blowing some of the smoke into her mouth as she kissed him again. I hadn’t seen Jayden do this much PDA since junior year.

Bonnie volunteered the next bit of info. “It means we are in a solid relationship, but it’s more of an open relationship, so I didn’t mind Jayden having more than just me as his partner, and vice versa. So, he met Rachel, and they are into each other, so now, they’re dating. And if I wanted to date someone else as well, I would be able to. But for now, I’m good with just Jayden, and I’ve never had a problem with sharing. It’s not cheating because we are all in agreement and all know about one another, so nobody is keeping secrets, and no one is unhappy.”

She winked at him, and Jayden slid his hand around her waist again and pulled her in, whispering something in her ear that made her smile grow.

“Yes, Mom and Dad know we got married. We told them last night. Mom wasn’t happy about it—go figure. But we did a small thing, us and a priest guy, kinda Vegas-style without the Elvis impersonator. Anyway, on to your next question.”

Jayden took another long sip of his drink. I had a feeling it wasn’t just soda, but whatever. Jayden was always doing something Jayden shouldn’t be doing.

“We don’t all live here. Rachel does come over and stay sometimes. Bonnie and I are going to be getting out of the MC, and I’m finally going to be pursuing my rap career that I’ve always wanted to do. So, that means I’ll be able to buy a biggerhouse, and there will be room for Rachel to move in when she wants. And when she stays over, no, we don’t all sleep in the same bed. Rachel uses the guest bedroom across the hallway. I get to pick who I want to sleep with that night. Sometimes, I pick both.”

He smirked at Rachel, and she ran her hands up his shoulder and placed a hand on the back of his neck, caressing it gently as she leaned in and kissed his cheek.

“I know a lot of people don’t get this lifestyle, but it works for us. I hope you can understand it, sis. I wasn’t trying to hide it from you or anyone, really. It was new, so we were all just focusing on us.”

Jayden looked so happy and relaxed right now. And it wasn’t only from the weed, relaxed and genuinely happy was something I hadn’t really seen my brother as in… crud, I didn’t even know. It was nice. Jayden deserved to be happy.

“So, are you all happy together like this? You all seem really happy, but I wanted to ask.” I smiled at them as they looked at each other, and their smiles grew.

Rachel nodded, Bonnie ran her fingers through his hair, and Jayden nodded as he replied, “Yeah, sis, we really are.”

That was good enough for me. Who cared if it wasn’t the normal way to be in a relationship? If it made them happy and worked for them, then I would support them all.

“Then, that’s awesome! I’m glad for you guys, seriously. And starting a rap career, Jay?! That’s going to be so cool! Mom will be glad you aren’t going to be doing things on a bike as much now too—she hates that.”

I giggled to myself, remembering all the times Mom had protested Jayden being on bikes and doing things with that clubhouse. She never liked anything about it, except Bonnie. She did love Bonnie, and since Bonnie was a little older, Momknew she wasn’t just being young and dumb. She knew she was looking out for Jayden in the right ways too.

“Well, I need to get going. I have some business to take care of,” Rachel said as she kissed Jayden on the lips, then stood up.

Now, I could really see her cute outfit. She wore pretty stockings, a short black skirt, and a really pretty purple-and-black top. She looked like a super-sexy businesswoman, to be honest. I would never look that good in something like that. She had the curves in all the right places to fill it out. She and Bonnie nodded at each other as she walked out the door. Then, Bonnie hopped up from her seat too. She walked into the kitchen, and she started to fix herself something to eat.

“Hey, Rosalie,” Jayden said, and I turned my attention back to him. “How about you and I go on a cruise? We could go to the overlook and chill and catch up for a bit. Then, hit the convenience store down the road on our way back because I’ll need to get some gas and we could pick up some snacks.”

I jumped to my feet, almost spilling the remaining water from my glass. “Oh, whoops! Sorry! That was a close one! But yes! That sounds like so much fun. I’m totally down!”

I smiled as I walked into the kitchen with Jayden, and we put our glasses on the counter. He walked around and kissed Bonnie so passionately that it made me blush. I turned my head until she laughed and pushed him playfully off her. Then, we both walked outside and into Jayden’s car. Making our way toward the lookout.

He had the top down of his Audi R8, and the wind ripping through our hair as the music played had me feeling like I was on cloud nine. This was the brother I knew. This was the Jayden I loved. I missed him, and moments hanging out together like this, more than I had ever realized. We sang along to some of our favorite 50 Cent and Eminem songs. He showed me a couple of new artists. Some were good, and some weren’t. Soon, we pulledonto the outlook parking lot. Not many people were here. It was a weeknight, so that was kind of expected.

Jayden turned off the car, but kept the battery on so the music still played softly in the background. He leaned back. “So, are you going to tell me how you’ve really been lately, sis? No bullshit.”

I looked at him, and my smile wavered. Glancing out at the view in front of us, I took a few deep breaths before I answered him.

“Well, it’s not that I haven’t been good lately. I have had fun and felt better more days than not. I haven’t had a nightmare in a while… but lately… lately, AJ’s been on my mind again. I know, I know! I keep pushing him back out of it because I’m with Kordell now. But… he’s there. A lot. I wonder if he’s okay. If he thinks about me ever. And why he really left. I just don’t believe it was for the reasons he said it was.” And I really felt that.

I think AJ had lied about the reason he broke up with me. I think Dad had lied to me, too. And I hated feeling like people were still lying to me.

Jayden sighed, and I knew he didn’t want to talk about AJ anymore, but I literally had no one else. No one knew anything that had happened that night, except for my family. I peered over at him as he mulled over his reply.

“Rosalie, look, at the end of the day, even if he did leave for a different reason than he told you, does it change the fact that he hasn’t even bothered to fucking text you and see if you are okay? To let you know he’s okay? No, he hasn’t. I can tell by the look on your face that he hasn’t. So, it might be hard, but you really need to try and move on. It’s for your sake, sis. He’s out there, living his life, doing whatever, whoever, and whenever he wants. Don’t sit here, not living your life because of him.” His face had a softer expression on it as he spoke, but he was serious.

And he was right. AJ had probably been doing everything and anything he wanted this whole time, and here I was, holding myself back because of a what-if. But what if I was missing out on the chance to be with a guy who really was perfect for me because I was hung up on a guy who had ditched me at the first sign of trouble?
