He waited, and I did as he’d said. Trying to make a break for it right now would be stupid. He was probably expecting it. I put it next to my other wrist again, but to my surprise, he didn’t tie them super close together. He gave me six inches of rope between them. Boy, that made my shoulders feel better already.

“T-thanks,” I whispered as he stepped back.

He nodded.

“The bathroom is right outside your door to the right. Try and leave and see where it gets you.”

He walked out of my room and into the main area of the house. I sat back up straight in bed. I tentatively stood and walked to the doorway, looking out. There was no door on the room I was in. But there was a door on the bathroom; it just had no doorknob. Which I realized when I went inside and closed it. So, there was no chance of locking myself away from him. Shoot.

I looked around the bathroom and quietly started to go through the cabinets in the room. Nothing but a couple of rolls of toilet paper, soap, and a hand towel. There wasn’t even a shower curtain or rod. I quickly used the bathroom and walked back out into the small hallway.

I could hear a TV playing, and I peeked into the big room, where I saw my captor leaned back on a couch, watching something. I decided to go back into the bedroom and sit back on the bed.

I had felt around my pockets when I was in the bathroom, but of course my phone, wallet, and keys were all missing.

“What am I going to do?” I whispered to myself as I tucked my legs up to my chest and put my hands over them.

I was scared, but I believed the man in the other room. If I did what he said, he wouldn’t do anything to me. And right now, I didn’t see any other option for escape. My window was nailed shut, and there was no window in the bathroom. And I wasn’t about to walk around the house tonight with him sitting right there.

I lay down on the bed, pulling one of the blankets on the end up and covering me as I lay on the pillow facing the door. Maybe tomorrow, I’d have better ideas about what to do. But right now, my body just wanted to sleep.

I wokeup to the sounds of someone cooking, so I rubbed my eyes and gently moved the blanket off of me. Standing up, I walked quietly out into the big room, looking around. Based on the noise coming from a small doorway, I figured the kitchen was in a small room attached to this one. I took my opportunity to look around this room. Besides the couch and TV I had seen out here last night, there was also a small table and chairs for four, a larger window by the front door that was boarded up, and a coat rack on the wall, where his vest was hanging. I walked overto it and opened it up so I could see the big patch on the back, and I swallowed hard.

The Wayward Suns MC.

Kordell had mentioned them before. They were the ones who had messed up his business deal a while back, and he had told me if I ever ran into them, I should pretend I didn’t know him because they were bad news to anyone who hung with the BLVD Riders. I kept reading the words. He had the wordsSgt. of Armson the lower half of the big patch.

“Like what you see?”

I yelped and dropped the vest, jumping at the sound of his voice right behind me. I brought my hands to my chest as I breathed fast.

“You scared the heck out of me!” I exclaimed as I looked at him.

He chuckled. “Maybe you shouldn’t be sneaking around like you were up to no good then, girl. Go sit.”

He pointed to the table, and I walked over to it and sat down, still trying to calm my nerves down. He walked into the kitchen, and then a minute later, he came back out with two plates, setting them on the table. Eggs, sausages, and toast. I looked up at him.

“T-thanks,” I muttered as I reached out and started to slowly eat the food.

He grunted out in reply as he sat down and ate the food from his own plate. He finished faster than me, and I glanced down at my own hands still tied together by a few inches of rope. It must be nice to have unrestrained hands so you have your full range of motion. And he brought out a glass of water and set it next to me as I finished. I drank that down once I was done eating. I might be scared and sore, but at least he was feeding me and giving me water. I wouldn’t starve to death, it seemed.

“I’ll be sending a message to your boyfriend today. And you are going to help me with it.” He smirked as he took my plate and cup away.

I shifted uneasily in my seat. “How am I going to do that?” I asked softly.

He walked back out and reached out, wrapping his big fingers around a decent couple of inches of my hair. Then, he pulled out a knife and moved it to my face. I tried to pull away, but it only pulled his grasp on my hair tighter.

“Owie, owie, owiiie!” I whimpered out, and then the tension was gone with a slicing sound.

I opened my eyes and looked. In his hand, he had the hair, and he pulled out an envelope and dropped it inside.

“There. That should be all the proof he needs. Well, that, and this…” He reached into his back pocket and tugged out his wallet, pulling out my driver’s license from it. He popped that inside the envelope with the hair too. “The delivery driver should be here at any minute. So, hang tight and don’t try to leave the house. I’ll be out front.” With that, he grabbed his vest off the hook and tugged it on before unlocking the front door and walking outside, closing it behind him.

I touched the place he had cut.Think, Rosalie! Think! What can you do right now while he’s not inside?

I stood up and started to walk around. I went into the kitchen and started to open a few of the cupboards. They were pretty bare besides some essentials for making simple meals. Same with the fridge and freezer. The utensils were missing the knives. I looked in a tiny half bathroom attached to it—nothing there either.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of a bike roaring up to the house. I walked as fast as I could to the windows on the front of the house, peeking through the boards, but the rider was just out of sight. Dang it!
