“I let them drive me, this isn’t a date.”

“How do you even know them?”

“I met them last time I was here. I got their number. Figured it would useful to know someone with a car.”

“These guys are assholes,” I lean in and whisper to her.

She pulls away from me. “They seemed like perfect gentlemen last time I was here.”

I bark out a laugh, “You mean when you were wasted and got knocked unconscious.”

Her glare is sharper than daggers. “How do you even know about that?”

“Small town,” I shrug.

She grips her hair as her head falls back. “God I hate this place.”

“Then why did you come back here?” I know it’s a loaded question, but this girl intrigues me for some reason making me feel like I need to know everything about her.

But she doesn’t answer me she just gives me another glare which I am beginning to think is just a permanent scowl on her face then turns back toward the guy with grabby hands, completely blowing me off.

I don’t let it get to me. I just order a round for my boys and walk back over to our table.

“Dude, you got about as far as I did. Except I at least got the girl to laugh before she shut me down,” Mac laughs in my face as he grabs a beer from my hand.

“Whatever Mac, the only thing that matters is that even though I got shut down by one girl, doesn’t mean I’ll get shut down again. Unlike you.” I snag the beer I technically bought for him and drink half it before handing it back. “Besides that girl is trouble. Don’t want to mess with that.”

Mac tries to grab the other beer from my hand, but I drink it before he can claim it. “When has trouble ever stopped you?”

“When that girl is Easton Calloway’s sister,” I reply.

“That’s not Tacoma.” I let him ponder it for a minute before I can see it all click in his head. “Shit, that’s Raelynn. When the hell did she get back to town? And damn, she’s all grown up now.”

I try not to let that comment affect me, but it does. I push the feeling away, knowing it’s not a smart one to have. “Recently,” is all I say.

“Maybe I should go try to talk to her.” He goes to stand up from his chair, but I push him back down.

“Ain’t happenin’.”

“You can’t call dibs on a Calloway, bro. It’s not gonna turn out well in your favor.”

“I ain’t calling dibs but I sure as hell ain’t letting some sorry ass like yourself make a move on her.”

Mac glances back at her, I follow his eyes to see her leaning into the assholes I wish she would stay away from.

“Yeah, not worth my time,” Mac concedes. “Wanna another drink?”

I nod as I look one more time at Raelynn and decide leaving her alone is my best option.

A few more of our buddies show up and we let the next few hours pass with stupid bets and jokes. I manage to snag a hot little brunette that can’t keep her hands off me. Perfect ending to my night.

I am about to drag her out the door when I hear Raelynn raise her voice. I look over at her and see one guy with his arms wrapped around her from behind kissing up the slender column of her neck. One of the other guys has his hand dragging farther north up her thigh than I can tell she is comfortable with.

No one else in the bar seems to notice what is going on, but I can tell she is trying to put a stop to whatever is happening.

I let go of whatever her name is and walk back over to Raelynn.

“Is there a problem here?” I ask the douchebags.
