Page 194 of His Hungry Wolf
He was right. I knew less about dragon shifters than he did. At least he saw his father growing up. All I knew was what it was like having a wolf fighting to get out of me.
“Let’s not worry about it. If it happens, then we’ll deal with it then. But, the way he described dragons perfectly fit your father and didn’t fit you at all. It’s possible that you’re just human.”
““Just”?” He said taking issue with the way I said it.
“You know what I mean. And, it doesn’t matter what you are. You’re the one I can’t stop thinking about. You, whatever you might be,” I said offering him a smile.
Relenting, he smiled back and gave me a kiss.
“So, you think that little bastard is a wolf shifter, huh?”
“That’s what Dr. Tom implied.”
“Well, I’m sure he’ll be in the mood to share his greatest secret with us after we got him docked a day’s pay.”
“We didn’t do anything to him. He was the one who said something to us.”
“And, I’m sure he’ll see it that way.”
“Sarcasm?” I confirmed.
“Yes, sarcasm. He’s not gonna wanna talk to us. And, I’m not sure I’m gonna be able to keep my cool talking to him. There’s something about that guy that rubs me the wrong way.”
“Then I’ll do the talking.”
“I don’t think he’s gonna wanna talk to you either.”
“Let’s hope he does because I think he might have a lot of answers, and not just about what I am. He could know stuff about dragons and what you are.”
Cage didn’t fight me after that. Taking a few more minutes to rest in our room, I collected the boots Dr. Sonya had placed in front of our door and headed to Glen’s.
“Tom told me about what happened at the lake. I thought I would be seeing you here,” he said with a smile. “Here, I found a few things in your size,” Glen said handing them to me.
“He told you I’m not a Fae, right?” I asked wondering why he was still being so nice to me.
Glen’s eyes bounced towards Cage.
“Don’t worry, he knows. I told him about me and he can be trusted.”
“I see,” Glen said apprehensively. “Well, what I gave you isn’t new. When you live in this town, having a spare set of clothes at hand is kind of a necessity.”
“So, there are a lot of wolf shifters here?”
Glen’s eyes shifted to Cage again. “I’d prefer not to say.”
“I told you, he can be trusted. Just think of him as one of us.”
Glen shrugged.
“And Dr. Tom already told us about Nero.”
“Did he?”
“In fact, that’s where we’re going next.”
“Good luck with that,” he said offering me a genuine smile and walking away.
“I guess he’s met him,” Cage said sarcastically.
