Quin opened his mouth to speak but didn’t.

“Quin, you can’t tell me you think everything’s fine. When was the last time you spoke to him?”

Pain washed across his face.

“The day he moved out.”

I was shocked.

“And that didn’t tip you off that something was wrong?”

Quin shrugged defeated.

“Do you even know if he’s been to class?”

“I don’t know. He hasn’t been texting me back.”

I looked at him convinced.

“And does that seem like everything is right with Lou? I mean, even a little,” I emphasized.

Cage’s rumbling growl drew my attention as he exited the bedroom dressed. He looked like he was about to shift. Cage was our pack’s alpha. It had an effect on me I couldn’t control.

When he saw me back off, he said, “We’re as concerned about him as you are.”

“Are you?” I asked gathering myself. “Because it doesn’t seem like you’ve done anything about it.”

“Titus, we got this yesterday,” Cage said holding up the invitation. “Why do you think I’m here? I came down to help Quin figure this out. We understand you’re concerned about him. But you’re not the only one. We’re on the same side.”

“And which side is that?” I asked challenging him.

“Yours,” Quin snapped. “Titus, we think you two should be together. We always have. You two love each other.” He approached me reaching out to touch my shoulder like I was a wild animal. “We can figure out what’s going on with Lou together.”

Realizing I wasn’t alone almost brought me to tears. Seeing my head droop, Quin wrapped his arms around me. It felt good. Cage was next.

We were going to figure this out. Together, I knew we could do it. But the first thing we needed to know was where he was.

Between Quin and me, we figured out his class schedule. With that, we could figure out the name of his professors. The classes at East Tennessee University were often pretty big. But with a little luck, at least one of them would have seen him or noticed him missing.

With Cage and Quin taking two professors, I took the other two.

“Neither of them could tell me anything,” I told Cage and Quin when we met for lunch to share our results.

“The same here,” Cage said. “I would have thought Lou would be hard to miss,” he joked.

“And what about tests?” I asked. “Shouldn’t they notice if someone was missing from that? Or, at least their grade?”

“He’s in a lot of large classes,” Quin volunteered.

“Okay. So, what do we do now?” I asked.

“If they’re getting married, Sey probably knows where he is,” Quin suggested.

“You’re right,” I agreed. “But, he’s not gonna tell me that. And neither of you know him, so he’s not gonna tell you.”

“There’s gotta be someone who knows where he is,” Cage insisted.

I thought for a second.
