“Why not? It doesn’t matter what you wear, you’re exquisite.”

“Flattery will get you back between my legs.”

“Happy to be of service to my mate.” I winked.

A soft rap of knuckles heralded Raelin’s appearance. She blushed as she took in my naked state yet again, but I didn’t cover myself. Raelin selected a blood-orange gown and helped Thea into it. So that was what she was waiting for. Her handmaiden to pick the gown for her to wear. Perhaps tomorrow I’d pick her a gown.

“Raelin,” I said, “can you arrange for your best singers to meet us in the Throne room?”

“No!” Thea gasped.

“Yes,” I stated.

Raelin gawked between us once, twice, before shaking her head. Thea smiled like she knew Raelin wouldn’t go against her orders.

I ran a hand over my horn, making my cock twitch. Raelin’s blush deepened. Thea’s eyes darkened in a jealous rush. Seemed my mate didn’t care her handmaiden saw me naked so long as it did not arouse me. More ammunition for me to store away for later use if I needed to get Thea to do what I wanted.

“Fine,” Thea spat out. “Go now.”

Raelin hurried from the room as though a fire was bearing down on her.

Thea stomped over to me and grabbed both my horns. She tugged my head down to the same level as her face.

“What game are you playing, Beast?”

“The game where I win your trust.”

Her gaze dipped to my mouth, then down to my hard cock.

“Trust my cock is yours alone.”

She dropped to her knees and cupped my balls in one hand and the base of my shaft in the other.

Batting her eyelashes up at me, she said, “If it goes near any other siren, then I’ll make you wish you never stepped foot in the Autumn Court.”

“I love your possessiveness.”

Her eyes widened with shock, then she smoothed a kiss to the tip of my cock and stood.

“You’re just going to leave me hard for you.”

“Guess it’ll be the ultimate test in trust then, won’t it?”

Damn, if I didn’t get harder for her still with her fiery attitude.

Chapter seventeen

Thea

The Autumn Court

Iwas never nervous.Never. Except for now. This test the Beast insisted on was ridiculous. Preposterous. Insane. It made my heart flutter with emotions. Raelin had indeed got our best singers into the throne room. I seldom used this room. It was too large. There were too many places people might hide.

The Beast stood by my side as I sat on the throne. On my other side, sat Melanie. Her disapproving glare was all I needed to see that she didn’t approve of this one bit. She didn’t approve of me choosing a mate at all so this wasn’t unexpected. Still, it would be nice to have her support instead of her disapproval every moment I strove to take the sirens in a better direction.

I imagined others would always see sirens as bloodthirsty, beautiful creatures who could sing men to their deaths. We were so much more than that. The Beast was chipping through mywalls and seeing those things for himself. He was too astute. Perhaps that’s what I needed.

If fate sent him to be my mate, then who was I to argue even if sirens rarely mated? Mother would have approved of him. Father would have taken him aside and given him advice on how to handle a siren. I smiled at the notion of my gentle, loving father meeting my Rage Demon mate. His tempered violence matched my own.
