Page 27 of Cruel King

A look of utter dread fills his expression. “Jesus, no. I think if I said that he’d have your father drive all of them home right now, blizzard or not.”

I open my mouth to say something about us staying together in that room tonight when Eleanor calls out from the stairs, “Ava! I talked to Mr. King, and he told me I’m to make sure you’re happy and given whatever you want. Do you need anything? Where are you? I can’t find you anywhere!”

All I want is right here.

Matthias grabs my hand and nods toward the door. “Come with me!”

“I can’t move quickly. My ankle. Remember?”

He turns around and crouches down in front of me. “Get on my back.”

I willingly do as he says, and he hurries out of the room. My arms wrapped tightly around his shoulders as he holds onto my legs, he runs down the hallway toward the back stairs as Eleanor reaches the second floor. My heart races with excitement, and when he turns to look at me, I swear I see happiness like I’ve never seen in him before.

We duck into a room I’ve never known about before in all the times I’ve been in the King house. He shuts the door behind us and flicks on the light switch to reveal a room full of cabinets containing collectible porcelain figurines.

He sets me down gently on my feet, and pressing his fingertip to my lips, he whispers, “Shhhh. Don’t make a noise or she’ll find us.”

Outside in the hallway, I hear her walk past calling my name. I hate the idea of worrying her, but there’s nowhere I want to be more at this moment than right here alone with him.

When the coast is clear, he smiles and says, “That was close.”

I look around at the hundreds of figurines housed in the wood cabinets that line the walls. “What is this room?”

Matthias takes a deep breath in and lets it out slowly. “This is where my mother kept all her porcelain dolls and collectibles. I don’t think anyone but the housekeepers have been in here since she died.”

His voice trails off, and I instantly wonder if we should leave this room. It feels wrong thinking about being with him again here.

“They’re very nice,” I say, not knowing the right words at this moment.

“My father hated every single one of these things. She brought them out one time, and within a few days, they were all back in here. When she got sick, she stopped coming to this room.”

“I’m sorry,” I whisper against his back as he looks around and sighs.

When he turns back to face me, he kisses me softly and whispers against my lips, “I say we make this a place at least someone enjoys again.”

Before I can ask what that means, he lifts me up by my waist and sets me on one of the empty built-in cabinets that runs the length of the one wall. My heart races again, and a second later, he leans in to kiss me once more.

He unties the belt around my robe and opens it, and I tug his shirt up over his head. Lifting my legs to circle his waist, he kisses me long and hard as I nudge his sweatpants down over his ass. His cock springs free, and he tugs me toward him until it presses against my needy pussy.

We fuck fast and hard, both of us desperate for one another. I cling to his neck as I ride him, my body lifting off the cabinet so he has to hold me up by my ass. His fingers squeeze my flesh and move up to my hips where he sinks his fingertips into my skin while he jackhammers into me.

This time there’s no softness or words. Just the desire in both of us to feel joined again. Every nerve ending in my body feels like it’s alive, and with every low moan in my ear, I inch closer and closer to coming.

His body flexes against my hands, his neck tightened as he pumps into me. I ride him and he fucks me, our mouths devouring one another in a frantic race to that perfect moment when we come.

I reach it first, my body tensing with the first rush of my orgasm pulsing through me. He holds me tightly in his arms, and even as I try to keep quiet, I can’t silence the sound of pure ecstasy as I buck against him and revel in every moment of my release.

A minute later, he stills against me, and I feel him come. He sighs heavily near my ear, almost as if he can finally breathe again.

“I never hated you, Ava. Never.”

His words make my heart soar. So full of emotion, they’re the true version of him I’ve grown to care for in the hours we’ve spent together today.

Matthias presses his forehead to mine and whispers, “I’ll come to your room later on when Eleanor falls asleep.”

A million things run through my mind in response, but I don’t say any of them. It’s too soon for that. Maybe next time we’re together I’ll tell him how I feel. For now, I simply nod before he kisses me and sets me on my feet.

I hurry off to my room for the night, eager for when I’ll see him in a few hours. I’ve never felt like this before. It’s as if I’m as light as air and I could fly up the stairs if I wanted to. He makes me smile, drives me crazy, and then makes me happy all over again.
