I headed toward my office to see what Viktor needed to handle. I wasn’t his second by any means, but I helped out when we were busy. The Brotherhood was a machine that was well oiled. We all worked toward a common goal.

If that meant I had to beat down a business owner to get his dues, then I would, even if it wasn’t my job.

“Hey,” one of Viktor’s inner circle walked past my office.

“What’s good?” I nodded.

“Come with me. I heard there’s been a bust at the club,” he said before rushing away, probably to Viktor’s office.

Fuck, I’d barely sat down before shit hit the fan. I grabbed my jacket and threw it back on, heading to my Pakhan’s office. As soon as I went inside, I could see this was a much bigger deal than I originally thought.

“The feds?” One soldier was mumbling.

There was a ton of murmuring in the office as the men crammed in, trying to hear what Viktor had to say. He raised a hand up, silencing the room with one move. “Apparently there’s been a raid on our downtown club, The Ice Palace. Everything has been seized.”

Discontent rippled through the men. The Ice Palace was one of our more classy joints. Broads did little in the back rooms. They could make a man cum in his pants in less than five minutes though. Those girls were no joke.

“What do we do?” The soldier asked.

Viktor looked at us all in one sweep of the room. “I’m waiting for one of my men to update us on the ground. He was at the scene when the raid began.”

“Fuck, we can’t have the feds on our ass,” a soldier said to his friend beside me.

A walkie talkie went off. “Pakhan, the feds have seized everything. They found a ton of that new drug,Bubbli,on the premises.”

“Someone is trying to frame us,” Viktor growled, balling his fist up.

“We won’t let this stand,” I said. Some men agreed with me.

“Clear out while I think,” Viktor barked.

I went to follow his order, but he stopped me.

“Benedikt, you stay. You stay,” Viktor pointed at a few others, telling them to hang back.

The doors to his office closed behind the last man who filed out. Viktor looked at all of us with a grave expression on his face. “There’s a traitor in our midst.”

A few men grew uncomfortable. Traitors weren’t tolerated in the Brotherhood. Viktor was known for punishing the men who lost his wayward wife. What would happen if they were traitors? It would probably be worse than having their face carved off.

Alexie stumbled out of the bathroom, adjusting his cufflinks. His hair was a little wild, which matched the look in his eyes. “Ah, brother, who do you think betrayed you this time?”

Viktor’s jaw clenched. “Alexie, you’ve been invited to join us, but that means you need to be helpful, otherwise I have no need of you.”

Alexie shook his head. “Sorry, what is your plan for getting the traitor to reveal themselves?”

Viktor shook his head, then addressed the room. “I want everyone to go about their normal routines and keep an eye out for anything strange. If you see something, report it directly to me. No one else. Got that?”

We all agreed loudly.

“Dismissed.” Viktor waved me over to his desk. “I’m not sure having a wedding is such a good idea, with times being the way they are.”

I shrugged. “As long as she’s my wife, I don’t care about the wedding.”

“But will she?” Viktor gave me a knowing look.

I sighed, women needed so much in order to stay happy. “We could do something small-” I said, but Viktor cut me off.

“Not after the tiny ceremony Roman had. No, we need something big, which means it needs to be planned. Propose to your woman, before she gets the idea that she’s single.”
