Her flirtatious attitude has me all tied up in desire. Who knew that Madelyn would be like this?

I purchase some coins to play games and toss some in the two skee ball games that are side by side.

“Ready?” Madelyn smiles over at me, her hair falling to the side.

“Ready,” I nod.

We each grab a ball and play. I look over at her, and she’s focused on her own game. I’m distracted, trying to throw the ball and see where hers landed at the same time. It’s definitely hurting my score, but I don’t care.

Observing Madelyn is my own prize. Her cotton dress slides up a bit in the back every time she bends over to slide the ball. When she gets a good throw and lifts her hands to cheer, jumping up and down, the hem rises, exposing her toned thighs. Halfway through, I don’t care about the game, too focused on her beauty and light. Her energy is contagious.

Hearing what she went through with that professor made my blood boil. I promised myself I’d make sure she knew that I didn’t recommend her for the job based on my feelings for her. I hate that some asshole even brought that up to her, that he thought it was okay to say something like that. She’s strong, though, and she isn’t allowing it to affect her life more than it has.

“I won!” She dances around.

I didn’t even notice she finished.

“You barely got any points.” She looks at the screen on my game.

“Uhh…yeah.” I shrug.

“Canaan?” Her eyebrows pull down.

“What?”

“Did you even play? Did you let me win on purpose?” She crosses her arms, annoyance lining her eyes.

“What? Hell no.” I shake myself out of my trance. “I wouldn’t do that. I was distracted.”

“Distracted?” Her voice rises.

“Yeah, seeing you in that dress, jumping up and down, bending over…damn.” I take a deep breath.

Her eyebrows slowly lift as realization dawns on her.

“Oh.” Her lips tuck between her teeth.

I wrap my arm around her, seeing as we’re alone in this section, and lean my lips down. Madelyn presses a finger over them before I can reach hers. My eyebrows furrow as I lift my head and look at her. She didn’t mind the kiss earlier.

“You lost, therefore, no kiss.” She winks and steps back. Mischief dances in her eyes.

This woman… If I’m not careful, she’ll have me wrapped around her finger faster than I can nail two pieces of wood together.

“I hope you’re good at Pac-Man then.” I wink, reaching for her hand and searching for the beloved game. This is one game I know I’m a pro at.

“You’ve got yourself a deal, but remember that I’m still planning our second date.”

“A bet’s a bet. I’ll honor that, but I’m paying wherever we go.”

Madelyn rolls her eyes and pauses, her eyes jumping back to me. I arch a brow and smirk. I know exactly what she’s thinking because the same thought popped into my head. Clearing her throat, she smiles.

“Let’s go.”

I chuckle, walking through the aisles of games until I spot the Pac-Man machine.

“Ladies first.” I wave a hand toward the game.

“Thank you.” She does a half curtsy that makes me laugh.
